Just a quick question are there any differences in load/rebound between standard 2wd saff front shocks and 2wd cosworth front shocks, as I found some in the shed and was wondering if its worth the hassle fitting them now or just put up with the shit shocks till I get some konis

The damper height and rate its totally different i believe ginge. Give Doj a shout he will know....

I got a set of front konis with uprated std springs on that will be available soon. £100 plus postage.

yes there is mate, can't be too sure on the exact specifics but the shocks are going to be just a little bit shorter and a little big better on the bump absorption

and seeing as there were 22 different front springs available for the sierra from the factory, you've got to be pretty sure that the dampers would have been suitably different as well

on the 4wd versions there were different between ac and non ac cars as well as left and rights so anything aftermarket won't have these subtle differences built in

Oh that's good as the front sits a little higher than the back so this should solve my problem for a while, it'll only be a temporary measure as standard shocks won't come with a boa weight/power

If you are sticking a v6 in the front they you will need specific v6 springs with v6 ratings, otherwise the extra lump if metal that you have under the bonnet will simply cause anything else use use to sag, regardless of if they are clause springs and updated or not

it's a bit difficult but once you get your head around it it's fine

think of it this way:

the cossie spring has a higher poundage, but it's shorter, so the initial weight of the engine, which is much more, will compress the spring MORE and therefore your car will be much lower than it should be

the spring will also be designed to have x amount of load on it for cornering etc so it will compress at a certain rate, but you've already got too much weight on it so it won't handle properly either

imagine you go shopping and your plastic bag will carry one bag of potatoes, but you put in 2 bags of potatoes, the bag isn't designed for that sort of load so will be more likely to split

just had a chat with my mate lee. he said you should be fine with cossie struts and springs.

His is in bits, it was supercharged...... wasnt enough! Hes going for compound charged the fucking nutter using a gt35!

Once the engines in and the bodyworks done I'm going for twin turbo

Ill work something out, ill pick up some xr4x4 springs
