Default Cosworth Boost problem

I'm getting my focos ready for the road but one thing that's got me puzzled is the car is only making 9psi boost we have swooped a lot of stuff over to try and sort this problem we did find a very big air leak on a pipe fitting we found this by pulling the air serply hose of the turbo and the car kept running so that was sorted it now kills the motor when I put my hand over the turbo so I'm happy that there are no leaks . I must say I don't no much about the turbo it's a T34 with a .48 rear no smoke no play but 9psi ??
Any forts

Check the Amal valve clicks when you turn the ignition on. Sounds like its not bleeding any air off

It is either the amal valve or the wiring to it I would say,

But there may be a problem with the power supply, as said you need to verify if it 'clicks' when the ignition is switched on?

If its low on boost, check the actuator is correctly pre loaded and functioning, ideally pressure test the actuator and see what pressure the gate starts to open, this will give you a good idea of spring tension.

Check the Amal is functioning, correctly plumbed and correctly jetted,
Check the amal has a 12v and a control feed to the ecu

After that being very carefull and measuring fuelling while doing so, pull the actuator pipe off and bring it on boost, this should keep the wastegate closed, BE AWARE THIS SHOULD MAKE FAR TO MUCH BOOST. So do not hold it open or engine damage mar occur, just squeeze it onto boost and see if the turbo itself can make more boost than you have.

If the boost is still low with the pipe off, the turbo is faulty or you have a massive air leak.
If the boost is high, its simply a control issue, so go back through the first part.

Thanks James it's pipe up right and when I flick the key for a split second it gets 12v I have tryed the car with a second actuator on off a car that makes 28psi I'v all so tryed it with the pipe off still the same . I'm 99% shower I'v not got a air leak as I'v put a damp rag over the air intake on the turbo and the motor come to a stop very quick and then it was holding a vac on my hand so to me and wot your saying its turbo off time never mind . Thanks for you're help

Doing. a vacuum test isn't really as good as a pressure test though as it can seal some leaks
