They've renamed a section of the Nordschleife which was known as Pflansgarten 2 or 3 depending who you spoke to, to the Stefan Bellof S.
Today, to commemorate this, no less than Derek Bell has done a demo lap in the pukka Rothmans Porsche 956





Stefan Bellof (who was killed in a 1000km race at Spa in 1985) record still stands for the fastest lap of the Nordschleife at 6:11 set back in 1983.

Shame there's no video of it, there's a video of Derek Bell in the same car at the same event in 1983 during qualifying for the 1000km race which is a 6:37.


Note Jacky Ickx passes him on the lap, so must've been faster too!

Unfortunately the tourists only get to do bridge to gantry laps though Nick so a fair benchmark really for them.

There's always chat about what to add for a full lap vs BTG, consensus says around 25 secs, but that varies from car to car. Obviously something wanging down DH at 170 is going to get to T13 quicker than a hot hatch.

Yes, I like it as you go through the S bend you can't see anything but the trees and your left side wheels go over the flat concrete kerbs on the exit .BRRRRRRRRRRR.

They towed me off last May and did cost me €290,- that's towing from Höhe 8 to Bongard in Breidscheid
Marshals from Nürburgring was €98,25 and the towing from Bongard was €190,- no fluids spilled or armco damaged so I was lucky
