Default BMW Question

Hi I see lots of members on this site are getting BMW's, a few questions please. Can anyone recommend a BMW site that might be even half as good as Passion ford ?
Secondly my own new toy, a 2009 520d auto might have a problem, when I pull up at a junction ect I have to put the foot brake on to stop the car "creeping" forward, is this normal? A bit of pre knowledge is handy if I get the "oh they all do that Sir".
Thanks

Im no expert with Auto's but isnt that normal for it to creep forward if its in drive? obviously the idea is to either keep your foot on the brake until you need to move forward or put it in N, then you can move your foot off the brake and it wont move? Sorry if im stating the obvious but thats my understanding of an Auto

Thought so.

Whats the big deal with keeping the foot brake on anyway?

If you really must release the foot brake then put the car into N

Thanks for your swift replies, there is no problem putting my foot on the brake, but there would be if it is not how it should be. Just asking those in the know and not having to rely on the seller (local garage supporting the warranty). Thanks again

May sound silly but, can it cause damage or wear anything out by holding an auto car on the foot brake for to long while left in drive?

no, but if it's been driven hard it can help to keep he heat in the discs and pad and cause the brakes to suffer in the long run.
however due to the need to rely on brakes for stopping all the time then they will wear out faster anyhow so shouldn't get into a badly warping place.

+1 for Bimmerforums. My 330d auto creeps forward too and it's normal.

All autos do this. It's in D and ticking over at 500 plus rpm, so it's always going to move at a slow pace. It's like putting a manual in 1st and letting it run with the clutch released but no throttle. Difference is that the auto is designed to allow it not to stall when the foot brake is pressed, but a manual will stall,

Do I start saving for a new engine after watching Watchdog last night? Is there a chosen path to follow to minimise the risk of a timing chain problem?
