Just spent most the afternoon having a hoonabout in my 186bhp/210lbft fiesta RS turbo as the weathers been mint!!, with my mate in his 03 plate WRX Impreza......and having a fair advantage over him....was feeling properly smug about it too, then after we went our seperate ways on route home i randomnly bumped into my mate with a 1.3 Glanza turbo he has just purchased with a hybrid turbo, front mount, chip etc we hit the local Airport runway when we were on our way home, and my god do they move for a mildly tuned 1.3 turbo!

Anyone else ever been shocked by a car they really were not expecting it from?

the older version of the car surprised me too, my neighbour passed his driving test and was bugging me for ages to test drive it, then he had a boost leak so i took it for a spin to test it,,,, fucking loved the little starlet sooo much but think it was cause i wasnt expecting it tbh

i had a guy in a fairly nice mk2 golf 16v gti pull up next to me at a set of lights while i was in the twin turbo'd estate

he obviously wanted to cut me up to go into my lane going straight ahead when he should have been turning right, but i didn't think he'd be that fast

and i was right, he wasn't

turns out he worked at halfords and i met him a few months later while looking for an oil filter

after about 15 minutes it suddenly dawned on him that it was my car that had spanked him away from the lights

he said "there's no way a sierra estate has the right to be that fast"

Travelling back to camp one day along the a43 with all the roundabouts sone young chav in a saxo came tight up behind me.

My mate has a fiat Bravo 1.4 t-jet it's black looks subtle but has a turbo and 150BHP! you can get one with plastic wheel trims that has the same engine and no would know what it packs under the bonnet.

My mate had a wee starlet which he spent 3-4 grand on his engine, and fuck! Me!! Did this wee hing shift! I raced him at crail with my stage 3 saff and he was only 1car length behind me,and i think was only due to traction. Absolute wee animal of a car. It was built for big power but when i raced him it was only puting out 170 bhp due to the map. I was told after he smashed it and sold the engine to a guy who dun hill climbing,he got it properly mapd and the little 1.3 turbo was puting out over 300 bhp!! So all you chaps out ther,never under estimate the wee fuckers! Lol...

Friend of mine used to nail my old st170 in his 1.6 rover lol.

Back in the day a mate of mine had the old shape diahatsu charade 3 cyl turbo. Think it was on a D plate. Had a wind up knob on the dash to up the boost, spent all day murdering golf gti's and nova gte's off the line, but didn't have much left in it past 70!

few years ago I was going to fitp in my mk1 escort when it was at wickstead park.was crusing along when an mg (rover 25) thing came up the side of me.we both planted it and he just took off like I was stationary.finally caught up with him as he had slowed down to give me a chance and saw a tiny turbo badge on the back.must of been a 220 turbo lump under the bonnet

A lad I half knew bought a classic scooby a couple of years ago, just a boggo uk spec one, and went on and on like it was the fastest thing ever. One night I was out with a mate in his Corsa B, and we see said lad parked up. I go over, start talking and say show us how quick it is compared to said Corsa. He goes on about how he'll rinse it (I told him it only had an exhaust lol) so off we go, join a dual carriage way, my mate plants it, and we sail past his subaru like it's nothing. When I was 17 I had an old mk1 fiat uno turbo with 213bhp but other than an exhaust looked completely standard boost gauge was hidden, pulled up next too an old v12 jag bloke looked at me revved his jag up and him and his mate laughed at me and said "off the lights yeah" lights went green I was gone got to 80/90 and he caught up he had stopped laughing lol

Also did similar thing in my old mk2 Astra GTE C20LET

In my 4x4 saph cossie 260bhp when I got it I got done by a white fiat coupe turbo fuck knows what it was running but it just seemed to have unlimited boost pissed all over me

The day I brought my c20let corsa was fun, badged up as a 1.0 12v corsa b in a shitty bright green, fully stripped out with a 291bhp c20let running a td05 conversion, I got to upset a sti Subaru pro drive and a mk1 frs with ease, that was fun

And I remember sitting at some lights with my big spec 3dr before repainting it and it was beat to death and on standard wheels and r888s, and some Flash Gordon wannabe pulled up in his Maserati and was going to tear off, as this road it perfect for it and has the anti slip Tarmac stuff, so as he started revving I was watching the lights opposite and engaged anti lag and at the perfect moment revved it too the limiter and dropped the clutch, at this point he was already rolling to find me wheel spin and fish tail past him, with my screamer pipe and anti lag making his car sound like a hair dryer lol

i have shocked many many people when having a play..but that aint what the threads about.. my mate had a video..he was in a corsa vxr and loved to have a tear up with other cars.. he saw a white starlet glanza in the distance so nailed it got along side it.. and straight away the starlet driver nailed it! they raced 4 very long stretches.. the starlet spanked him he said he couldnt beliebe how fast it was.. to make it worse though the starelt driver opened hes window in the end and said" this runs vpower your just a waste of fuel" lol thats when my mate just took the next exit lol

i once sold a diff from a scorpio to a guy who came up in a nova / corsa mk2 i think, was a little dark, and i showed him the diff in the headlights of his nova. while standing there a fan under the bonnet started to make quite a lot of noise, so i asked what the hell for a fan did you use? he showed me, the little car was equipped with a 2.2 litre opel turbo engine, with a huge intercooler and much more very cool looking racy stuff... it turned out to be a 4x4 corsa with about 400 horses, and it was wicked fast, truly mental, becouse you couldnt see anyting on the outside, still had its complete interior, only 3 gauges added, original (mint) seats and bench, no electric windows, it even had its original 13 inch steel wheels with hubcabs, so you coulnd see the brakes. i later spotted the car on a show, with 14 inch wheels, and mighty 55/195 tires fitted, ap brakes around fitted behind those tiny wheels, and it was very fast around the track. nice details on the car, a original endpiece on the exhaust, tiny one inch pipe sticking below the bumper, ford rear diff, 4x4 all the way, original interior, even its original radio, no badges exept the original corsa badge and a opel logo on front and rear. no holes cut in the front bumper for extra cooling or such, no roll cage, just a normal interior with normal 3 point harnesses, such a lovely little monster. it was just a normal old corsa, only with a owner who cares for it well!

I had a mk2 golf gti with a 20v turbo s3 lump pull alonside me once. I seen the intercooler in the front and knew I could not put the power down in first. Pulled away gently and looked over. His mate was only filming it. So I opened her up. Fish tailing passed him with group b style chatter and the ass squating down some how put him off trying anymore.
