Years ago, i had a opel monza, rear wheel drive, 3 ltr, 180bhp, going down the local shops for a kfc!, couple of roundabouts and dual carriagways, a rover metro comes up behind on one of the roundabouts with a couple of young lads in, i think yeah i'll have some of this! Absolutely could not shake it! Stopped at the kfc, turns out it had a 220 turbo engine in! Priceless!

Good thread, The thing that shocked me the most was this...My mates Corsa B C20Let turbo...This was when it was 447BHP....It's running 550bhp and 500 at the wheels now on his new engine!
Note, the Focus didn't back off till he very last second and we passed it whilest spinning the wheels still.....Thing is mental
Oh and the Focus didn't have the full MP350 kit, found out it just had the air box and cat back exhaust....Still a fast car VS an insane old corsa lol

Corsa weighs one tonne atm, only the rear bench as been removed, so bigger engine etc has added more weight...Still an unfair test against the focus but just shows how fast a quick car is against something insane lol

Ride out on my old 954 fireblade I was following a Chrysler crossfire, glanced at Speedo it was touching 120 I realised he thought he was racing so cogged it down 2 gears and nailed it and was very surprised how well it went and took corners

In my last Evo, which was standard at the time except for an exhaust and filter, I had a Corsa VXR appear behind me on a stretch of dual carrigeway. I thought, I'll show him (up to 70mph, officer
)
Then much to my surprise, past he went........
It was blue, Pro Race 1.2's, low, and LOUD...
Needless to say, the next week I booked the Evo in for a stage 1 remap

Years ago I had my first quick car,a fiat UNO turbo (why does the iPhone always put the word Uno in capitals????), three of us in it and not standard a right gay looking bloke is sitting on the bumper in an mx-5.
Cries of "bye bye hairdressers car" and the little fiat came on its 1 bar boost but the bloody Mazda was welded to the back bumper.
Hit about 80/90 over the flyover in port talbot and JUST started pulling away.
Forgetting there was a rather sharp bend and how badly the UNO handled I nearly wrapped it up.
Under steered my way round the roundabout and the bloody Mazda whipped inside, struggling for grip in the UNO it blew me away on the other part of the flyover and turned the other way.
Must admit I was very surprised as it looked totally boggo and the UNO was a really quick car in its day.
Other time was in my Astra gsi and a rover zt 180 or some such thing held it all the way round corners and on the straights.
Never really rated rovers but the run out models went really well, shame they never made it.

The thing is, these days, to 99% of fast car, even hot hatch owners, they'll be gutted to get destroyed by even a Saff Cossie as most haven't a clue what it is, and the ones who do think they'll easily win vs that old car.
People like E46 M3 drivers usually get the most wound up, and most seem to think their car is amazing.
Good old power to weight ratio. With a Saff being ~250kg lighter than your average hatchback these days, 300kg+ lighter than most supercars, and best part of a ton lighter than a lot of big saloons, it's amazing what you can surprise with an early 90s Ford.
Own 3 sleepers at the mo, love it. A 5ltr turbo V8 Volvo, a 470bhp 'something' that's grey and has a diesel badge on the back, and a Cossie engine 'something else' that's weighs ~900kg and has normally got ~100bhp from the factory.

back in the early 90's some one I new had a pld beet up looking mini... with 110Bhp that was fun, then There was the ex German diplomatic merc we had that was bullet proof.
we went out in moss side in the bad old days with a lap top computer on the back seat the "chancer" threw a brick at the back window hoping to brake it and take the computer, while we were at some traffic lights..... It bounced and gave him a bloody nose. I nearly wet my self laughing!
