Default MK4 fiesta coilover problems

Hi all.

I'm really struggling with which type of coilovers to get on my mk 4 fiesta. I'm after eye mounted (not fork mounted).

Considering the mk5 is very similar to the mk4 (and my mk4 is a 99 model) will they not be able to fit the same type of eye mounted coilovers?

All of the packages for the mk4 seem to be far too expensive (£500+) whereas I have found mk5 kits for under £250.

I'm wanting around a 100mm drop and firmer ride for road use

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Hi

The mk4 use afork type where as the mk5 use the eye so the rear beams are different as I have had to change my beam to a mk5 so my suspension would fit

I have eye mounted, or at least I'm pretty sure anyway. And it's on my MK4. Are you saying all mk4s are fork and all mk5s are eye?

fiestas 1996 to 1999 are fork
fiestas 1999 to 2002 are eye

if you have a 1999 model you will have to check which you have (ie V reg fiestas used both types)

Right OK. Some of these companies selling coilover kits for mk4s don't seem to mention fork or eye mounted. They just use (JAS/JBS) which I've tried to find out the meaning for, but I'm strugging!

Mine is a T reg 99 model and I'm pretty sure it's eye mounted. I've had a look at the part that connects to the rear beam and there is a single bolt going through.

I found these (by far the cheapest yet) that would fit a mk5. If mine is eye mounted will it not fit mine also?

Thanks for the help as well. Very much appreciated

Look at the rear beam and see if the bottom of the shock goes over or in the rear beam. If it goes over it then its fork fitment but if it slots inside the rear beam its an eye fitment.

lmao the mk5 1999 to 2002 anit a mk5 its a mk4 facelift and 90% of companys inc ford say the fiesta 1996 to 2002 is the same car and list them all parts as mk4, So those coil overs are for the 2002+ fiesta so will never fit.

Right OK. I'm very glad you've cleared that up for me as I had no idea. They are very similar other than the front headlights. Am I right in saying JAS and JBS refer to the earlier and later (facelifted) models?

Why the hell is it so expensive to lower them!? My mate lowered his Ibiza sport 110mm (coilovers and labour) for under £250!!!

early mk4's and puma's had fork mount rear beams, late mk4's, late puma's and all mk's had eye mount rear beams

fork mount coilovers will fit all early mk4's and early puma's

eye mount coilovers will fit all late mk4's, late puma's and all mk5's
