Default Brazing anyone in the know!!

I can braze copper but i need to adapt one of my power steering pipes as its to long so what i would like to know can i cut it to length i need and braze back together using my superfire torch with mapp gas and brazing rods for steel? Pipe is i think 3/16

I twisted the rack to pump pipe on my saff and a second hand one was loads of money so chopped it and brazed a section of copper pipe in it never had any probs with it

Yes but what did you braze it with as i only have my superfire torch with mapp gas ideally i would use oxy acetylean

No idea mate sorry! I used the cutting torch in the workshop with a brazing nozzle on it and we have a box of brazing rods with an orange flux coating on them

Yeah bud got the correct brazing rods but wanted to know if i can do it with a superfire torch with mapp gas

remember brazing is omly glueing together the parts with brass as long as it gets proper hot it will work

if it gets hot go for it lol only thing I found is it takes far longer to heat the steel than the copper so easy to melt the copper

I'm not using copper i going to cut it down to size swage one side put other bit inside then braze together with multi purpose rods for (mild steel,stainless steel,copper)

Give it a go mate. Might take some heating using map gas. But should get there in the end.

I get you mine has about a 4 inch long section of copper pipe in it

I have bodged various things together using silver solder and flux with a turbo torch.

Take your time, and make sure all surfaces are clean, and it will be a piece of piss. My brazes have to withstand 42 bar, never had a failure yet.
