Default mk1 capri

i keep looking at this capri

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Capri...item3f24664524

i have always wanted a mk1 capri and it looks a good candidate and sensibly priced, im considering selling my skyline 240k to replace with this.

does anyone know the car ?

That does look good, well priced too. But that skyline you have is also a damn cool car too.

I think that's quite strong money for a base spec Capri personally!

Looks pretty though.

That's very nice but as simon says I think it's a little over priced, maybe Ł5k tops. For Ł7k u could buy a good base and build something with a tasty engine.

seems overpriced to me too . as its not got original engine . i would not bother with base spec either . if you are wanting 1 . go for the 3000 ltr GT or 3000 ltr E model . even better try to get a rare 3100 RS . be a lot more money though
you will more likely find its had a resto at some point . the white paint seems too bright to me . also cars still rotted away wih ZEIBART . that was the most common rust proofing in the 70s .alfas were zeibarted too and look what happened to them in the 70s
also this is a 1973 onwards facelift model . smaller wing vents larger dash dials and larger tail lights . only 3000 GXL models came with 4 head lamps

My first Capri was a 3.0 GT. Light blue with a black vinyl roof. Roof was tatty as shit, so off it came and I sprayed it a darker blue. Looked sweet.

There's a half tidy facelift mk1 shell on capripower, needs a bit of work as it's a bare shell but the seller wants Ł550 for it would make a great project.

That is some first car! I had to settle for a 2.0 laser capri, which I still have.

what would you be doing with it if you did buy it?

might be worth buying a 90% finished resto if you go with your usual train of thaught, as said its strong money for a basic car IMO

Sean

looking forward to your reply mind!

its not for mad power or anything just a classic for the odd drive and money in the bank so to speak.
ive got the r33 and the v8 kit car for the mad stuff.

a nice essex v6 or even v8 mk1 capri would be nice me and the missus like the rear 1/4 look of them, and ive always liked them anyways.

I think that is worth huge money look to a very nice example and being tax exempt as well. If you are going to look at it check for rust under read arches along lower rear panel below rear window inside the vents also a pillars chassis rails and the lower front valance and front cross member
