As far as I am aware it is a sealed unit on the transits, no way of splitting it apart!

Need a new unit mate

Should be able to code it to the van but they have some battery charging system on them as we'll so you can't open them to change the battery as it never needs changing

Yes they do split with a knife and you can buy the blanks off ebay.

However if it goes the same as my changeover did, you'll end up at Ford paying £135 for a new programmed key.
You can't program the blue keys in the van.

Split it and buy a new eBay case
I did with the tranny I just sold but be carefull how you split it as you don't want to lever against the pcb
Mine didn't work with the case broken but worked perfect once swapped

And you should glue it together but I used tape so it can be swapped again if needed
Mine was 3 quid posted from the cheapest guy
They all seem to be the same and some were £50!!!!!

The battery can be changed but theyvare soldered so a lityle fiddly and you can charge a flat key in another tranny by starting with the vans fob loose then swap them so the flat fob is layed in the key to charge for a little while
You can also buy a 2nd hand fob then home code it for rcl but the immob side is trickier but I think they can be cloned by a key guy

Is there no way of taking the immobilzer chip out of the fob and swap it into the new fob.

I had no problem
It's not the usual glass tube which will break it was a black block
Mine had damage to the buttons and ring loop so I split it at the button splits until everything cane out and into the new casing
Easy as pie
I wish I took pics but I didnt

I did it
With the amount of people selling the casings on eBay it has to be possible
There are differences to the black housings but I expect you could insert into one if those with some trimming

the immob chip for mk7 transit is soldered onto the remote PCB & isn't a separate transponder like in other Fords
