Default Citroen question - Adblue?

A friend has got a C4 grand picasso, has been having a few problems with it. The main dealer have said it is low on additive, blue liquid, for emmissions.
Would this be the same as Adblue? And would sticking some Adblue in cause any problems, or would it have to be the stuff Citroen are pushing them to use. The reason for asking is the price, Adblue is a lot cheaper than Citroens brand of additive.
Cheers,

It won't be adblue.

Adblue is used at about 5-7% to fuel.

It will be the additive for DPF regen if that's the system Citroen use.

If it was adblue he would know and as far as I am aware cars are not using it.

Plus he would have a separate tank for the adblue which he would be filling up with on a regular basis.

It will probably be the glorified pig piss for the DPF. Will be a LOT cheaper to buy it anywhere other than the main dealer...

Lol. Regularly go home covered in white stains, particularly on my boots. Must look really dodgy to the misses!

What he needs is something called eolys fluid. It has a seperate tank and injects some into fuel system every time you open the fuel flap to fill up with diesel. It costs about 30 - 35 quid a litre. usually holds about 5 litres but when you have filled it up the ecu needs to be told its been filled so needs plugging in to some obd software. ive just gone throught this with my 407 hdi

Mercedes-Benz had E and S Class models using AdBlue from 2010. Very little take-up on the models involved - I never sold one - and not sure if they are still in the price-list.

I can understand it used commercially but in private vehicles? Yet more expense.

Adblue is not blue btw, its a clear fluid.

Totally different to other additives, it is in use in production vehicles now.
