Default 335d coupe's?

Been saving for a new motor and had my heart set on a focus rs.

Anyway somebody said why not get a 335d. Apparently once mapped (350bhp and 500lbs/ft) they will blow away a modded RS and still return 35+mpg around the doors. Have only ever heard good things about them. Love the look of the coupes not to keen on the four doors though.

Question is, will they be able to excite me as much as a mp350 RS? And if so, are they that much cheaper to run? What are the servicing/repair costs like?

Looking on autotrader your looking at 15/16k for a good one whereas youd be shelling out 20k for a nice low mileage RS.

also looking at a 3.0d A4 quattro, any reviews? Then there is always the option of modding up a focus ST but ive done that twice now dont think i could stomach spending that money again.

Cheers, Matt.

Fucking hell lol...

"The Enterprise, like the 335d, is also slow off the mark, but with a rolling start it's very impressive. 0 to another galaxy in just a few seconds"

So is it one of these cars that the owners reckon are rapid? A bit like golf tdi owners etc?

They must shift though being a 3 litre twin turbo?

My last car was a focus st running 330bhp and 400lbs/ft so i want something quicker next, if the 335d isnt as quick i wont bother.

Nice cars, I've got a e90 330d and it goes and does everything well. Would rather have a Focus RS over a 335 though

You'd be far better of with a 335i twin turbo petrol Ł10k and easily remapped to 380 bhp and its a v nice engine not a tractor engined DERV like 335d.

Whilst I agree that the above cars are very good the Turbos on a 335i are shit, they're known for failing and are far from a cheap fix ?

If my memory serves me the turbos used on the 335i are Mitsubishi !

Had mine for almost a month now. Love it.
Tyres are expensive. But bmw warranty is highly recommended as they cover pretty much everything.

I have the jbd tuning box with mine but haven't plugged it in yet.
They are very quick for a largeish car.
Mpg isn't amazing but still tolerable.

Off the line not much stands a chance.

I only have a 330d that is on a standard map, when the turbo spun up it does pull well, I have driven a re-mapped one on a couple of occasions and that was rapid, 30 to 120mph would rival an M3 and it was a derv!

i have driven a few 330d's, remapped one was very quick.
i ended up buying a 330i, petrol, just because i already have a diesel to drive. they are very nice cars, they give you a feeling you won't get from a ford it has to be said, although a mk2 focus is a very good car.
are they quick? well it's all about torque, just dies off on a diesel a little up the revs, but i would think if you drive it well you won't get hammered by a focus rs at all, you should pull and get past more petrol stations before having to fill up, unlike the focus rs.
also, RWD is fun

I map both, and the Focus is quicker, but they are completely different cars.
