Default New Company Car Options? - Updated - Got it.

Just thought i would pop a post up to see if anyone had any suggestions i hadn't thought of, I'm in the process of sorting out my new company car, well its actually an employee car ownership scheme, so i can go for anything i like really so long as the book figure when new is less than 25.3k, I can go to 1 year old and 12k miles, but it has to be from a main dealer.
There are a load of other Ts and Cs but they are the important ones.
So far i am looking at either a Skoda Octavia VRS estate Diesel, or Seat Exeo ST with the 170 engine.
It needs to be an estate, so i can put the dogs in the back at the weekend, go camping etc. It needs to be nice inside, supportive seats etc. as im going to be doing a fair few miles in it. Reasonable on fuel, the two above are 50mpg combined, no less than that really. it has to have a bit of poke, and a few toys. must have bluetooth phone.
Any Suggestions? not realy a fan of mondeos, but i might go and test drive one.

Mondeo X-sport are decent.

Audi A4? Something tells me that would be too expensive though so I guess BMW and Merc are out of the running.

Will have to take a trip to ford.
audi's are too expensive, i could get a base model a3 but its not big enough.
I can have a 1 series beemer, or a base 3 maybe, but i would rather get something cheaper but top of the range with all the toys.
whats peoples opinions on the vRS in Green

My colleague's is a Hyundai i40 and I really like the fecking thing! Looks brilliant, fully loaded to the rafters, goes OK-ish for what it is and got it for £17k and boots the living crap out of it and still won't do less than 33mpg in town and well over 45-50 running up and down motorways and I tell you he has a heavy right foot. If I was to have it I'm sure I could do maybe 40mpg in town and 55-60+ on the motorway.

Since your budget is higher than what his was though I've be looking at a Passat or Mondeo estate.

I dont really want a passat, purely for the reason that everyone else in the company drives a dark blue or black passat.
There are a few seat exeo st's around at really good money, but they are all the 143ps models rather than the 170. I guess I might have to take one for a test drive and see if that extra 30ps really maked a difference.

Make that Skoda silver and you have a fantastic car. I would t have a mondeo over one, not a chance unless I needed maximum capacity. The seat is nowhere near as good as the Skoda, they are shockingly built by comparison, nothi g like as good as they used to be.

Does it definitely have to be an estate?

Would a Ford S-Max be a useable alternative and still do all what you want?

My mum and dad have a new Octavia, to be honest it is a bloody good car. They went for the 1.4 TSi, which is turbo'd and supercharged. I've driven it a couple of times and it is very comfy, it goes pretty well and does about 50 mpg. The boot is massive for a hatch back. They didn't need the diesel as they don't do mega miles. I would definately consider it.

S-max is an option actually.
I dont like the green octavia either, but they are about 1k cheaper than the equivalent in race blue! Not a fan of black or silver, so its got to be blue or white if I go for the vRS.
I'm surprised to hear the seat's are poorly built. I thought they were the same car with a different badge.

The Exeo is based on the Audi A4 mate. The Nowt wrong with them, the CR engine is a good unit & the build quality is VAG

The CR engine, like the Tsi engines are used across the VAG range VW/Audi/Skoda/SEAT

I've got a 2010 1.4 Tsi Leon (turbo only not the twin charged 1.4), never had any major issues with it, the only minor issue was a wheel alignment problem and it ate a set of tyres in 6 months

As with any Diesel with a DPF fittedt from any manufacturer, if someone is doing short stop-start journeys all the time it's only going to cause issues/problems.

A lot of owners go down the DPF delete route.

If you want to do some research go to seatcupra.net, there is an exeo section on there......link below:

Have a drive in a Mk4 Mondeo before you make your mind up. You could get a really nice 2.2 TDCi for that cash.

Its not as if you've gotta worry about it, its a company car after all...
Theres plenty of VAG's round here due to my work's car scheme...
They do a performance diesel Focus estate??? Would be cool for the Cheshire meets...
You'll need to keep the van if you get anymore dogs lol.

well i took a vRS out today, and i wasn't that impressed
loads of road noise, even at slow speeds and the brakes didnt feel good at all. i know its a fair weight to stop but i expected far better.
Might take another out, this one might have been a dog, only 8k miles from new though so should have been spot on.
will pop into ford over the weekend too.

Low pro tyres and not enough sound deadening. Should go alright tho, I have a petrol vrs but dad has a diesel estate and its cracking. Still, I wouldn't swap unless his was petrol as I don't do the miles!

If you go ford get the 2.0 or the 2.2. Forget the 1.8 as they are not as reliable.

Titanium X or the titanium X Sport (2.2). Think these are the fully loaded models.
S Max only goes to Titanium.

Picked it up on Thursday
Mega impressed with it. Does everything I want its big, comfy, quick, munches up the miles, and handles well too when you get a nice bit of open road.
Just got to fit a dension gateway for bluetooth and ipod, and a remap now

Looks good next to Jems Golf GTI
