These boys are right, you don't need 10w-60.

10w-50 is a far better option and quality is better as well.

Noticed this thread in another section - so are we all agreed that Silkolene 10w-50 has the majority vote as the best oil?

Is a flush necessary when going from standard oil to synthetic - or is a drain only ok?

Flushing with some of the new oil is the best option.

So what would you suggest Simon, drain original oil, put a litre of synthetic in, drain and then put the regular amount it?

Here you go,

Flushing Procedure (Don’t use flushing oils or additives)

1. Warm up engine to get oil circulating
2. Turn off engine and drain old oil
3. Fill with new oil to minimum (you will be wasting this)
4. Warm up engine to get oil circulating
5. Turn off engine, drain new oil and change filter
6. Fill to marker on dipstick

Cheers

Simon.

hi mate, ive tryed a few oils in my erst, and did not rate the mobil 1 motorsport, why you might ask? well for me my engine sounded more ratily and the engine temp went up, so i went back to puttin semi synthetic magnatec the lifters sounded alot better and the temps were better i change the oil about every 3000 miles..
