fiesta rs turbo injectors not firing on cranking.
Hi chaps I'm still having trouble with my s1rst efi conversion. Injectors just don't seem to want to pulse on cranking but will as soon as I spray brake cleaner up intake. Im officially out of ideas now lol. Has anyone else had this issue before, I'm sure my wiring loom is fine, I used rs bible for wiring instructions using two yellow relays. Please help!!!!!!!!
what injectors do you have? as it sounds as though they are sticking!
Have you tried taking them off the manifold but connected to fuel rail still, to see if you can see them to squirt fuel into 4 jam jars!
I have a set of standard blue ones if needed.

I'm currently trying on the standard blues, I have tried some rover injectors similar to Beiges but same problem. Yes I've removed fuel easily to check for pulse but nothing still. I do get the initial prime pulse when you switch ignition on but that's it. Give a small shot of gt85 and away she goes although there is a slight misfire. All of this setup was removed from a running frst so I'm baffled now lol.
Have you plugged the speed sensor in as mine did the same without it plugged in,
Plugged it in and it fired up straight away
Check the contacts on the edis module
Are all earths good and connected

Check the crank sensor wiring mate, bad for melting.
Also check the crank sensor is wired the correct way. I bought a second hand loom and had same probs. Turned out the crank sensor plug had been replaced but soldered on wrong way round. Swapped it and boom, it was running!
Other thing to check is the holder for the crank sensor. There are two (early and late) same with the sensors as well, If you have a old sensor with new holder or vice versa it wont be picking up the crank signal off flywheel.

I've got good spark on all four plugs so I doubt my crank sensor is at fault, I know my crank sensor plug has been rewired at some point but if it were incorrectly wired Im sure I wouldnt get spark. Do I realy need to have the speed sensor connected for the engine to start up? Thanks for your help by the way guys.
If I remove one injector plug and check voltage with ignition on I get 12 volts on both wires??? I'm sure I don't need the speed sensor plunged in, doesn't seem to fit s1 gearbox anyway. I'm certainly at a loss lol
Voltage drops to approx 10 volts on black n green injector wire on cranking. Also I've noticed when I unplug all injector plugs, turn on ignition I get 12 volts to black wire and approx 6 to brown???
Ecu will earth out the brown wires for injectors when cranking. It will start without speed sensor, mine did.
If you put an led across the injector plug and crank it will show if the injectors are pulsing. Can blow drivers on ecu tho i believe so be careful.
If you have a multi-meter I'd be checking the continuety and polarity of the wiring from pins 1 & 3 of the edis module to pins 14 & 34 of the ecu.
Saqme again with 5 & 6 of edis to 1 & 2 of crank sensor

Sounds like a job of belling out every wire back to the ecu connector mate just to confirm the loom is ok. U got another edis module to try? unlikely it is that but worth changing if you haven't! Think ive got a spare one somewhere and a spare crank sensor if your stuck for parts

where are you taking your ignition feed(s) from?
it sounds like possibly 1 could be losing its power while cranking
as not all ign feeds stay live during the starter cranking
i'd check that if you havent already

I'm taking the ignition feed from the black wire on ignition key switch. I have already tried another edis and brand new crank sensor. I will check the voltage on cranking again but I'm sure it holds voltage. Realy cant afford to be buying more ecu's and wiring from the con artists on eBay!!! I cant go back to mfi now lol!!!!!
Yep had a booster on battery while cranking and I leave it on charge everynight, I've cleaned up all terminals with contact cleaner. Today I'm going remove the engine loom today to check every single wire again! Lol thanks again guys. I so wish I could get to the bottom of this.
Bit of progress yesterday, got hold of a 36-1 trigger wheel, put it in a cordless drill, cranked engine whilst spinning trigger wheel in drill and boom!! Engine tries to start, injectors were all pulsing!!! So it seems I could have an earth problem?
