howcome the large difference in price between the xpower one and the godfrey one?? is there such a thing as godfrey tax or is it a quality issue??

still doesnt account for the price difference. its the fire rings that cost the big moolah and that wont change much with cometic. And looking at the price difference in normal gaskets, it being made by cometic still doesnt account for the cost rise. After all a coopers ring gasket is a normal head gasket with no fire rings, so nothing special in gasket design terms.

The Cometic gasket is produced specially for the Cooper ring design, the other is a modified standard YB or pinto gasket.
Before the Cometic, the Rienz Cosworth/Mountune WRC gasket wa used with the bores increased to suit the Cooper rings and that was back when the WRC gasket was nearly £400, hence JG commissioning Cometic to make gaskets to suit the Cooper rings.

but does it perform any better in real practical terms than the cheaper kit above?? its the fire rings that are vital to bore sealing and if you manage to blow through an oil way thats more down to an inadequate breather system for the spec rather than a fault with the headgasket itself as even the cheaper gasket looks perfectly adequate in those areas.
