Its to long to start with tbh. As there is not a cold enouth plug that can be fitted directly into the standard zetec head. So the head has to be modified to accept a different plug style and this is where the problem arises with the plug blowing out

Nothing new about deepening the spark plug recess to accept different spark plug style, with a wider temperature range, that has been done many years back, Focus WRC development.
The tappet bore diameter is usually increased to help with the range of cam shaft profiles.
M12 head bolts from the YB were also used.

Been away for the Xmas break so only just seen this.

Well done to Lee - awesome power! Makes it the country's most powerful Zetexc doesn't it? And maybe even one of the most powerful in the workld still on pump fuel as I know the Americans all run fancy fuel for their claimed figures.

Here are some pics of the car when I was down there having my car sorted. Looks a monster! It will be a Central Day I was told, and there are plans to do top speed and Time Attack too.

Fantastic result there!
While I don't want to be "that guy", I have a couple of questions about the graph. Why does the air temp read as 27 degrees (I know I'm up north, but I'm sure even we'd have heard about that heat wave up here!)? And how come it was run in 4wd shoot out mode?
Not trying to be a bell end here, just interested.

4F is not 4WD mode? And 27 doesn't sound bad for indoors? Isn't it as long as it's within a few degrees of room temperature?

Yup i no! But when this is carried out the plug has a tendency to pop out at high cylinder presures this is the point of this threed! Not trying to state the fact of modifing the head for different plugs is any think new as we all no its been done for years now!!

F4 is the ramp rate of the dyno! The higher the expected hp the steeper the ramp rate.

If the plug is blowing out, using a good secondhand or new head casting then the modification has been done wrong.
Timesert thread repair does help, also if not govened by regulations, spark plug hole machined and threaded to a larger size and a stepped insert made from a better alloy grade (7075) thread locked in place, several sizes were used 10mm and 12mm plugs (RS200).

Steve
The spark plug is the same threaded length as plugs used in a YB and they do not suffer from that problem (if the headl goes soft they do)
