when spending this kind of money isn't it worth casting a batch of thicker walled/ carefully designed coolant passages for this application?

i'd of thought the carbon cover will be to stop you seeing what they've done about the spark plug issue as the head is capable of flowing the required air with right porting to leave enough material by the water ways

Yes the cover is to stop people looking lol. Alltho even with it off you would be hard pressed to see it

I dont think that one syzbak has is the same head as used on that engine.esslinger head i thought the only made 2 or 3 and apparty they are nothing like a normaly zetec head just the rocker cover bolts onto it

syzbak cylinder head is an early prototype ford cast cylinder head , the engine posted above is a special cast cylinder head made by esslinger for shaun carlsons drag focus which cost over 1 million quid to develop and build. esslinger made around 5 to 10 heads and was then made to destroy the orginal casting hence when i phoned esslinger direct he basically laughed and said good look.
speaking to people on the american forums even they dont know how many and where they are , one lad said he knew the bloke who now runs the drag focus but spares where rarer than rocking horse shit.
ian said he had a lad bring him some heads which was from a s.african zetec which had massive ports but looking at them more closer he said the inlet and exhaust where the opposite way round like the duratec and the head bolts where in totally the wrong place so he never bothered after that.
any of these heads are very very rare but never stop looking lads you never know
by the way the engine in the picture above ran over 1000bhp and was a methonal engine hence no intercooler
its a shame shaun carlson died from a rare heart condition as he may of been able to tell us more

He also confirmed that the car never ran more than about 700-800hp at 8-10k Rpm. The higher (1000hp) figures quoted was just magazine hype!

I managed to track down one of the guys behind this and ask about the head,
