Default S600 bi turbo, anyone have experience?

I fancied a 4 door luxury car so am awaiting delivery of the 2004 facelift Mercedes S600 Bi-Turbo 5.5 V12 now standard figures look good 500bhp 590ft/lb torque........but i then looked on DMS tuning and noted 600bhp with 750ft/lb torque with a remap.....hopefully should be impressed, apparently it runs a detuned Maybach engine.

Has anyone any experience? I know its gonna cost alot to run

We have a mod that feels its muppet material Same old passionford, not for petrol heads.

is this the same motor as in the SL65 AMG? that had massive twin turbo v12 that was limited to 740 ft/lb, sure I remember Autocar reviewing it and saying it was just silly, traction control constantly killing the power making it lurch up the road given any kind of banter.

Sean, yes i can see what you mean, with 600ft/ib torque its going to struggle for grip being more a luxury saloon, my SL55 was bad enough!!!

I paid £6400 delivered for my car with FMBSH 90000 miles, 1 years MOT, stacks of history with a "V12" number plate The luxury is someting else, no plastics just leather and suede (alacantra), the rear seats electrically adjust and are heated, you got a proper fridge for the stella's its got everything, and that bose sound system is something else!!!!

Now i expect you all to slag me saying i feel this ios better than my other cars blah blah...BUT the honest opinion is this.....its FASTER than the other cars, its just astonishing and its not chipped yet! BUT its no sports car, it does have ABC and sport mode with ride height adjustment but its not a handler like the others as expected...it doesnt feel as big as it is, but straight line....BOY she flies, youd never know it was turboed! Brakes are good. I am overall happy, its a proper gangsta whip with the privacy glass! A poor mans Maybach

Probably because you're asking for "advice" for a car you already own, so it's entirely feasible, especially knowing your history, that this is an attention-whore thread, and not an advice thread. Hence why it was moved, no doubt.

Or in simpler terms; just because you're a muppet

Phil,

can you get the g/box mapped aswell?

we used to do this with RS6`s, even more sense than mapping the engine on them IMO

vids would be good

and much much agree with the spec and everything inside the cabin trimmed......... luxury was top priority defo.

ask the mappers if you can try the map for a couple of days, you can make your mind up then cant you, we used to offer this and all except 1 taxi driver took up the remap

DMS say the throttle response will be much better, and a much nicer drive plus turn it into a rocket ship lol. They did my sl55amg and was impressed. I think they spend much time into perfecting a map.

One of them cars that fits nicely into the other thread of amazing second hand bargains. So much car for very little money but it will have an £80k motor's running costs and problems.

Out of interest why didn't you go for an S55 AMG? I'd guess they'd hold the road a bit better than a non AMG Merc.
