Default Track Time At Ford Fair - Who's Done It Before?

How do you guys go about picking your times?

Can you have two sessions in a row?

Or is it better to split your sessions up? Say one every ninety minutes or so?

Any advice, comments etc appreciated.

I did last year and loved it!

You can have two sessions in a row You only have to attend the one briefing

I did have too sessions booked in a row but I swapped one of them with Alex ZVH for 200 benson

Seeing your reaction after last year made me want to go out on track even more Si! I should be joining you if you're going out again this year?

Sorry I can't answer your question James!

Cheers,

Andy

i'd say split em up, 2 together will feel like just 1 session.

last year i enjoyed it thoroughly

hopefully this year i'll be in a quicker car tho! lol

you can't have 2 sessions in one go because as you are coming off the next group are going on

it's well worth it though, even though i must admit that the guy who guides you through the course was way off the racing line when he went round

go to the first drivers meeting that you can go to, and don't forget to take your license, they will check it
meeting over you can then wait till it's your time to go on track, get there before everyone else in your slot and you can have the lead on your run and every other fooker can try to get past you
or you can go last and, if your car is slower than the rest, you have the WHOLE track to yourself

i went round last year in my twin cam sierra and even though the escorts went past in the straights, round the corners i was well quicker, but it's something you've got to go on the track and give it your all, otherwise it'll be like driving on a sunday at your own leasure

you can't time your lap though or video it unless you have a fixed video camera in your car fitted to a bit of roll cage or bolted into the car (but there is nothing stopping you from positioning a mate with a stopwatch on a hill and clicking the clock as you go past )

enjoy yourself, it's a GREAT day out and you won't regret it (unless you go across the rough stuff at the end of the start/finish line when you WILL lose your tyres, everywhere else is nice and tarmaced, but that bit is cobblestoned)

the end of the start/finish straight has got some nasty stuff on the run off area, they seem to be cobblestones with grass growing in the ridges
might have been changed since the last time but years ago my mate went off and it too his tyre and rim with it

the other run off areas seem to be just normal tarmaced stuff

you come out before the last corner and go along the straight, then it goes right a bit, then another straight and then a tricky left before the right hander again (this is where my car was getting very unsettled under braking with the back end getting very light and twitchy but the grip on the track is immense) then another sort of open left with another striaght before a fast right, under the bridge before another fairly fast right and into a short left followed by a LONG left (where i snup out on my last lap trying just that lttle bit too hard, but it was fine as no one can see you there ) before you go into the real long and tightening right to end the lap
this is the point where you have to come in, just as the last turn starts to straighten up

i thought i'd missed it because i was looking and looking and couldn't see naything, and if you screw up, everyone else loses a lap because all the times are set to be exact

clock watching i went round in 2.09 mins, my mate with his dohc 4x4 went round in 2.02 mins and my mate with his saph didn't push it and took 2.59 mins to go round

either way, it's a real way to test the limits of your car, but you need to make sure that you turn up with about a 1/4 of a tank to stop the fuel sloshing about in the back and some jerry cans to fill up with for your next run, and believe me, after you've had a spin round the track, all you can think about is "when can i get on next?"

You didn't follow a Green RS2000 in one session did you?

Yup I went out last year, and the only thing I'd recomend is get there early, as I got there quite late, and on the out lap the muppets in front of me let the lap car and the first 4 cars get away your not allowed to overtake on the out lap, so it took me a lap and a half to get past the first few cars in front, I then had a muppet in an S1 who was absolutly doing my head in by flooring it on the straight and then Braking way way to early for the bends, in the end I went past him on the brakes even tho your not supposed to...

Cought all the cars up bar the first one out and I would have had him, had I had another lap... No Racing??? yeah right

I went out a couple of sessions after you then... you was in the same on as ST

I had a guy following me in an Escort Si, and I couldn't loose him, when we'd finished I went over and asked what he's done to his car...

Nothing I was propper gutted, but couldn't work out how he kept with me, it was at that point him and his dad both started pissing themselves, he was a regular in the FF1600 or somat or other and he'd been round the track more times than he could remember, when I asked him how my lines where, he told me they were shite But still better than most the other cars on the track
