amal valve wiring and boost switches
following on from Toe knee's thread regarding amal valves....
i've got a 'boost switch' on the dash but it makes no difference to what boost the engine runs in either position
also somebody told me if i unplug the amal valve the car should run little or std boost? 9 psi?
mine runs full boost.
lastly some times if i hold the car flat out it boosts to around 30 ish psi and the ecu light comes on. only done this twice and only held it flat for 3 seconds or so.
any ideas?
cheers

Looks like were both thick mate
I would guess u might have the same prob as me and a dodgy amal valve, how fars the actuator wound in?! if alot it could be why theres so much boost going thru it!!!
Technically when on high boost its working as normal to the max power/psi then when u put it on low it turns it off and the amount of boost running thru it is reduced, but if someones wound the actuator in too far its gonna boost loads anyway.
Well from what i understood anyway

is ya penny sticking on ya turbo
is the amal valve cracked too
basicly take a feed off the compressor to the actuator and bypass the amal valve, see what ya running, if ya still hitting full boost then cheack the actuator preload as that could be too tight and if not then i would say sticky penny on turbo

when the new engine/turbo went it around 3000 miles ago the turbo & penny looked like new. what causes it to stick? soot build up or something else?
i might have to try that spare amal valve of yours b19bal!
so providing there isn't to much preload then unpluging the amal should reduce the amount of boost?

C to intercooler ???????????
rob take the feed from the compressor housing to the actuator as if the amak vavle is splt of cracked ect it will over boost as its gonna leak off air
when ya join the compressor to the actuator then it will only show the preload boost, no air is bled off
easyest way to test it
