anyone know if uprated ones can be bought cause my car eats standard ones in no time at all & there getting harder & harder to get hold of these days especially mine the early 50 pence piece type
maybe theres a company out there that could re-manufacture these,im sure there would be a big call for them???

Are you sure your prop is properly aligned - that's what killed mine.

The options I found are:
Use a 2nd hand donut

Get hold of the front section of the propshaft from an Escos or late Sapphire 4x4 and the output-shaft studs, and use the later thin donut

Make up an adapter for the propshaft to allow the use of the later donut.

I'm quite proud of mine and can get another made for £95 but you still need the donut (£60 or thereabouts)

I dont get why one of the poly bush manufacturers dont make replacements as there is a growing need for them and the situation is only going to get worse.

iain since you have fitted the cnc adaptor to use your earlier prop with the newer donut,have you tested the car at high speeds to determain if there is any inbalance/vibration ??

There is a poly doughnut available, it is made from aluminium with 6 poly inserts. Not sure which type it replaces though.

I've seen the aluminium/poly bushed ones on ebay for bmw's. I'll see if i can find the link.

i have had this problem before and could never find the parts to convert to escos type.
but while converting my granada to a 24v bob and 4 speed auto box i found the scorpio cosworth has an escos type donut. i dont know if you can use the scorpio front end prop or if it can be adapted. may be worth looking into though.

Now that looks a bloody good idea to try & stop the rubber donuts breaking away from the prop,maybe these could be machined up by a company to suit early & later style propshaft donuts

When mine let go there was no danger of the prop suddenly flailing around - the rubber contains metal mouldings that kind of interlink with each other so, despite the donut being in pieces, they remained connected together - so much so, that I drove it 70 miles home!





One of the problems with the aluminium discs that contain the rubber bushes is that the ones I've seen didn't have a centre bush to locate the prop and the output shaft, but that shouldn't be hard to add.



I can't say I've noticed any extra vibration with my adapter, but it was professionally machined to be balanced from the outset.

There are a few pcd sizes from the same seller they are for BMW's but you may find one the same as a cossie.
Can some one check a standard cossie pcd please, i'm away at work so not got access to one for a few weeks.

surely the polyurethane is not going to be good enough ,as the poly rear diff supports oval quiet quick & the cossy rear arm bush,s are total crap & last a few weeks of hard driving before going oval & allowing movement .the prop is taking all the power through this dough nut & i can not see it lasting long at all .

you can have a u/j fitted instead of the rubber donut. any good propshaft place should be able to do the job.
i wonder how much it affects driveline shunt as a u/j will offer any cushioning, might be harsh on transmission components as well.
