Impressive but not un common for road cars to reach them speeds at bonnerville due to the length of the place!

Having been to the flats and talking to the drivers I can tell you that despite the fact you have both 5 miles and 8 mile course's,you still need the horsepower to get the speed!

Uncommon for road cars to reach 236mph there or nearabouts ?

And how many road cars can do those kinds of speeds ? That alone doesn't make it commonplace at all mate !

Bet it can't get any wear near that in 1.2 miles from standstill so not as impressive as a certain sierra in my opinion!

He's also slightly taller than Rod more Mark Sheads height
shame about the music I'd preferred to have listened to the engine
I've heard better music whilst on hold to BT

Do some research before u question my reply, there's actually a Sierra merkur that has achieved a higher top speed than that at bonnerville.

IMO its more impressive that they can hold them flat out for mile after mile and deal with the heat

Rods would melt at WOT over multiples of miles

The two cars are designed to perform in different environments, both impressive but in different ways

im not comparing the too the original post hints that as do others I know both cars play a very different game and the speed said car has done is very impressive I just find the in gear power of rods more so that's all!

Thing is Rod can only squirt it for a short distance, Im fairly sure his car would not deal with the heat of a sustained run like these cars so yeah my choice is the car engineered to defeat the heat of sustained WOT and hit 236mph

the car has been tagged as the fastest 4 door saloon, not by me but by figures

its got nothing to do with rods sierra, at all, no hint of it.

i wasnt aiming my last post at any single person, just a general post

should have not bothered as its not Cosworth or BMW related

wont happen again

Can we actually just not talk about Rod's car and just about the car in the OP? I'm sure shortstuff will be along soon to tell us that Audi is 'slow' anyway...

What has this got to do with mine totally different distances. I have to go & stop in 1.5 miles. Certainly mine has the Power to hit 236mph on the gas in circa 3 miles if it held together. If i was in that game Mark would have supplied me with an engine to do it. Mine is simply a road car that goes fast not a Topspeed car that was built & designed to run over longer distances.
My gearing has to allow incredible accleration to 200+ to actually get up to those speeds. Given a 3 mile straight, gearing would be vastly different.
Mine is a compromise I have to pull 1000rpm over peak Power to have the
accleration to reach record speeds if i could have 1000rpm more on the gearing i would be hitting 236mph + at peak power . Doubt Mark would want another 40secs at wot so its purely accademic.

Really good video's the second is better as the noise of the car is better than the music in the first.
The bit that fascinates me is the engine traveling at those speeds and surviving - what's going on regarding outside air, cooling etc as that turbo must be pumping serious heat out.
Plus that parachute looked a little dodgy when deployed I thought it was gonna spin

I assume you missed this bit in your eagerness to tell us all how your car is the best

What I said was 100% correct, your car is not designed to cope with the heat of a WOT topspeed run over multiples of miles

A post from Rod I agree with! It has nothing to do with yours, as said, it's just some brown nose has to bring your car up in every thread to do with top speed runs! Have a look, neither me or Czech brought your car up first or tried to put it down...

it actually hit over 260 mph ! awesome really if you watch video 1 about 4 minutes in he pulls the shoot what must be over 250 mph and the front end gets out of shape !
much respect for an awesome achievement

Unless the car has got out of shape, seems very daft to want to pull a chute at those speeds. ie A bit like that Lambo driver who couldnt drive his finger up his hole who destroyed it by pulling the chute for absolutely no reason.

Is the chute mounted wrong or something ? A chute is supposed to be a safety feature, not something that can cause a car to go out of control.

id say due to cross winds and severe lack of grip on the salt surface, thats why the chute tugged the back end out of shape on take up drag

doesnt seem serious in the vids IMO

dont get me wrong lads, if anyones got any more factory body 4 door cars post em up!

what about Aussie Commodores or Falcons etc?

must be some flyers out there

Isn't there a Audi s4 in this country that has hit 200 at brunters? Sure it had standard internals too tho I may be wrong! Very impressive either way.

it is MRC`s S4

3.0 stroker, etc

But the car i posted about is a Audi 100 C4 S4 (called UR S4) 2.2 5 cylinder 20valve turbo

MRC is a 2.7 twin turbo B5 S4
