Default st170 dial help?

Okay, so I have a mk1 focus with 2.0 litre zetec turbo and have put some st170 dials in to allow for higher revometer and Speedo. However it does not light up properly. I have seen a bit of information about it needing the oil temp/pressure gauges to work. I have these and ideally would like them to work also but from what I read this is not possible as the info comes from the st170 ecu. So basically, how do I. A. Get the dials to light up and B. Get the oil gauges to work? If I can't get the oil gauges to work at all then I will either ditch them behind the dash unless I can get the dials to light up without them at all? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ali.

if you just want the dials to light up its easy peasey to wire in a 12volt EL panel driver. Your ST170 dash should have a 2 pin connector on top with 2 red wires on it. that is the EL panel connector.

Okay, think I am going to go aftermarket with all the gauges so just need to make the dials light up. So what exactly do I need? Have a link at all? Thanks, Ali

Hi there, just to clarify I have what was a standard 1.8 focus zetec collection. But now have st170 dials as I wanted to increase the rev limit on the dials as my engine limits at 7200 now and they look smarter and have a slightly higher top speed. They operate fine in every way other than the backlight as such doesn't work. The needles light up but the actual dials themselves don't, there is a two pin plug on them which isn't plugged in as that is part of the st170 loom which I believe is connected to the oil temp/pressure gauges. I just need to know what pins I need to connect to the oil gauges in order to make these light up or something alternative to make them work. I've seen a few bits of info scattered about but nothing conclusive. Heeelp! Thanks, Ali.

as said, you need a 12v AC inverter to run an EL panel.
