Default Reg not recognised on car check sites HPI etc?

Hi Guys I'm going to have a look at Mk5 Golf R32 on Sunday.

My issue is every single check I have done on the car it's showing reg not found, or descriptive data not found on the HPI site.

So far I have tried the following:

HPI check
DVLA check
Car Spotter check
My Vehicle check
RAC vehicle check

None of them are recognising the reg and all saying not found.

I have spoken to the seller who 'seems' genuine and he has told me that it is currently on a private plate. BUT it s my understanding that checks can still be done on any plate assigned to a car, private or not.

It is a black Mk5 Golf R32 reg YK55JHB

What are people's thoughts on this?

It might have had a private reg on it and just been changed over, my system gives me no details either which is common if thats the case.

When you put the reg in the autotrader web site as a seller the car comes up as the following:- 2005 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 3.2 V6 R32 4MOTION 3dr DSG Hatchback

Not sure why the others don't

Ask what the previous reg was.

I havn't if I'm honest. I just want an all rounder that I can leave out side if I want to. My mrs is back to work full time now with our Audi so I need something to smoke around in.

I'm hoping this is the case. Surely the relevant info can be pulled from any active plate assigned to a car though?

For example I have a private plate currently on retention, if I were to do a check on that plate now it would say nothing found. If I where to put it on my Audi and do a check it would bring up the Audi details surely?

According to the seller the private plate is still on the car and active so I would have thought I can get current details from it?

Well this is all very strange.

Why would it be visible on some systems but not others?

i had this problem funnily enough with my old golf gti. Turns out the ex owner was part of a special division of the police force so had had the plate blocked so no one could trace him or something like that. Once the block was lifted it showed up on all systems .

A work mate has just purchased an R32, I was really impressed with it tbh. Went well and sounded awesome. Interior was good with the satnav and the dsg is great compared to the smg on my M5.
I would have one over a gti, they just feel abit more special and less common.

R32's sound ace, but are a bit gut less, a chipped GTI is loads better more fun, and an ED30 chipped up with filter and exhaust, easy over 320 bhp

Standard for standard the gti is lighter on its feet and more fun IMO, no remap needed to extract more smiles

Wonder what the OP did?

I would say the v6 gives a better driving experience to people that don't know a great deal about cars as it just sounds fast if that makes sense.
The guy at work also said he knew if he got the gti he would always wish he got an R32.
Nick got a 330d in the end I think.
