Default Using Stack ST200 rev counter with MSD wasted spark.

Hi all,

I've just fitted a Stack ST200 rev counter into the clocks on my cossie.

My question is, seeing as I'm running an MSD wasted spark setup, can I just use the original tacho wire in the loom to connect to the Stack or would I have to put it to one of the switched earths on the coil wiring?

Cheers!

Gaz.

Can you not just select wasted spark mode, and run it as a 2 cylinder count? My SPA tacho works perfectly just stealing the wires out of the back of the tacho

I just didn't want to run any more wires really, just thought it'd be neater to use the original signal wire.

You can select the amount of cylinders on the tacho but I wasn't sure whether I could just use the original signal wire or not. I can't see why not tbh.

I just it would be neater if I could use the original ribbon connector strip thingy at the back of the instruments like I've done here:

Excuse the shit pics, my iPhone didn't like being dropped in the toilet and now the camera is shit (pardon the pun!!)

Cheers mate!

I can't check it on mine as it doesn't run yet!!

I take it you're on wasted spark as well?

I thought it would be ok to use the original signal wire but wanted to double check before I did it and possibly kill my not too cheap rev counter and/or ECU!!

Ok sweet, that should mean mine should work ok hopefully!

I take it you set yours to run on a 2 cylinder engine to get the right reading?

Yes, wasted spark gives a 2x speed signal due to the extra sparks every cycle, so setting it to two cylinders gives you half the real engine speed, but the correct RPM due to half the 2x wasted spark signal

Simple eh?
