ERST Engine removal. Best Methods?
I have had my engine out of an older S2 I had. I basically stripped it from the box then undone the nuts on the cross member for the gear box and lifted it out at an extreme angle with gear box still in situ.
Is an ok way I guess but the pulley toook a large scraping of paint from the inner wing.
What is the easiest way for getting the engine out.
May be worth bearing in mind that I would like to clean up the paint work in the engine bay as is a little grubby.
Thanks

Place the engine in position mate on a trolly jack, get a mate and between the two of you lift the car over and down.
Jack the engine up and bolt in to place (not directly off of the sump tho, put a board inbetween)
Easy

I remove the inner bolts for the lower suspension arm, the rod ends, pull out the shafts, then undo the ARB bolts, undo the top strut bolts and remove the suspension and shafts all out the way in one! Loads of room then! Ya need about 27 inches clearance to get the engine out/in the front

Hi lee it can be a tight fit,
you must remove the bottom pulley,
the best way to stop the inner wing paint from being damaged, is to place a suitable piece of hard board or thin plywood (3mm) down between the inner wing and the end of the engine
