ag motorsport focus is it really quick or not
without a doubt it is an awesome one-off car, however after watching the touring cars at knockhill, i would question its performance compared to the porsche which seemed to be knocking out very similar lap times, unfortunately i dont know exact setups of each but i do feel that maybe ag focus is more all show than go.

andys last focus as in the carbon one charlie now has is fast. its running a scs 800 hp spec engine with a 6 speed ffd seq gear box,
its light, and its got the power . its a fast car, i dont no what kind of a driver charlie is but andy could peddal that focus, i can say that 100% sure as i was very lucky to get a run out in it at silverstone ford fair.
thanks steven

ok maybe a bit of bad wording i dont doubt
the car does shift
it is an awesome well setup built car
it does have 800hp compared to the posches 450hp
charlie does love a good show
however
what is the knockhill record charlie holds as i seen one of the porsche lap times under 51 seconds and so far i cant find anything showing charlie being that much quicker

im not new to the ford world, regretfully just sold my escos after owning for 7 years due to house extension, yes maybe there is a bit of fishing but hopefully for official figures and without stating the obvious car is quick as so far we have under 2 seconds between the cars with the porsche being 350hp down

no wonder your crying clown, at no point have i said the car is slow or not quick. both cars are proper built with no expense spared
if you had sense and the informartion requested maybe we could say that the ag focus having an extra 350hp surely should be more than 2 secs quicker.

■Six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox
■Carbon fibre doors with window frame and plastic rear view mirrors
■Carbon fibre rear lid with adjustable rear wing
■Brake system with adjustable bias bar
■Internally ventilated brake discs – front 380mm – rear 350mm
■Motec instrument display with integrated data recording
■90 litre fuel tank
■Rear wheel drive
■Weight: approx 1160 kgs
anyone got the ag focus spec

so far we are guessing 2 seconds as we don't have charlie or andy lap records. i understand it is a short lap but for the power limited porsche to be within 1 or 2 secs does it show the ag focus as REALLY quick or not

back on topic guys
2 secs a lap say 20 laps 40 secs thats nearly a lap so isit really slow?
no-one has said slow in fact quite the opposite.
we are still guessing 2 secs which might be as low as 1 and the porsche being 350hp down is it REALLY quick

It seems almost everyone in the thread is missing the guys point.
He's just asking why a heavier, less powerful production based car isnt that much slower around the track
He isnt remotely suggesting Andy's car is slow, because it is a bloody rocket.
But more power doesnt always mean you'll go faster around a track. And lets face it, modern Porsches in any race series are superbly fettled for that purpose so will always be very very fast around race tracks.
But as others said, the faster you get around a track, the harder it is to knock 1 second off...or even 0.5 seconds...or even 0.1 secs.
So if Andy's car is a clear 2 secs ahead, that is massive over an already very fast car.

Happily retired
you only need go to Google to see that Andys lap time on slicks was 50.1secs. The fastest ever is a 43.3 (unofficial) in 2003 by a Ferrari F1 car. The fastest officially timed lap in exibition is 45.47 in 2008 by a Pilbeam.
If you check the official Lap record times for Knockhill it does not include a A. Gallagher or if it does i cant find it .
http://www.smart-timing.co.uk/Lap%20.../Knockhill.pdf
ps Why cant you lads gather the facts before start that way you may have a chance of winning an arguement.

Race cars setup by race teams will have a significant advantage i guess at Knockhill as its a short twisty circuit that will play in the hands of Handling cars that are setup by professionals (no disrespect to the AG team).
At the quicker circuits eg. Silverstone the AG car i suspect would be much much quicker as the power will really be able to be used.
