What's a 909 Escos?
In any case wouldn't look twice at an Escos if I could have an Evo 9. Didn't grow up around Cossies and would much prefer everything the 9 has to offer. A good mate has a 9 FQ-340 which was beast enough standard, had stage 1 400/400 and its all the car you could ever need imo. Like the looks, power, interior, whole package. Swings and roundabouts if you love Cossies you will argue different.

I want a toy... One i dont really have to touch much but can just get in, have fun, and also track..
This 909 escos is all i could dream of..
But i know an evo would be faster, and maybe have more fun going sidways ect...

Wouldnt really be used much on the road, maybe the odd blast for an hour or 2 once a month..?
Rest of time would e track days...
Also i do fancy having a crack in time attack..
The 909 cossy is ready... Just remove restrictor and have a new map and it should have 400+ on tAp,
Not going to win i know that but it does have a 909 dogleg short ratio box... So will use the power it has very well!

I would buy the escos, a car like that doesnt come up for sale often but evos always do. After havin the escos a year you might decide to buy an evo, the escos would be worth the same but an evo would be cheaper meanin you get more for your money.
If you buy an evo and dont like it that escos will have gone and you will kick yourself for not trying it.

The TME is deffo more of a drivers car than an 8 or 9 IMO also a TME will hold its value better than any Evo 8 or 9 if you ask me..... especially a UK supplied one as its easier to insure etc etc
If you look on the MLR there was a similar thread and most people said they would rather have a TME lol
All i know is that my TME gives a total grin factor and at least you have to drive it a bit whereas the later models drive themselves and can be pretty boring!!

i got rid of an escos and went evo, tbh i wish i kept with the cossie
i drove an 8 first and it was horrible, great car in every way but just no feel to the car due to all its fancy electrics, plus the 7/8/9 all look the same with just a few cosmetic changes and they blend in very well on the road which just looks boring
personally id go for the escos, or go for a modded 5/6 that has had all the work done which then you will forget about the cossie,as you will have some serious performance, handling, and comfort and reliability

But altho evo 9's are holding there money.... At the min...
Dont you think they will just depreciate fast?
What about a 7? There basically same as 8/9 arnt they? Apart from mivec and you can delete the maf and run the ecu to air density on a 9...
Seen some nice 7's pushing 400-450hp and there for sale for like 6-7k

Well mat this is the thing...
I Love cossies! Always have! Been a dream car from when i was at school!
But deep down somthing is saying evo.....
Grrr lol!
As said above tho, maybe get the cossie as it will hold money... If i fall out of love with it then, sell on or strip and buy evo then... Lol
I really dunno what to do... Literally 1 min im thinking yep sell mine and go straigh and buy the cossie...
Next min im like.... But evo's are reliable more practical... (not that i need practiacal)

WTF is a 909 Cosworth anyway? Every Ford motorsport part of the era has a 909 part number, but you were supposed to use them to build a car to suit specific regulations, e.g. group n.
How do you know that Escort is any good? Just because it's got a few 909 parts on it doesn't mean it's any good.

Just buy the Cossie, like you say the chance may not come round again, evo's are two a penny out there so sell the Escos and buy one at a later date. The escort isn't goin to be as quick as the focus by a long way so although it's a wrc beast its well dated and heavy, but I bought an Escos cause of how they look lol

evo has to be the best car as its got 15+ yrs head start. however a 400hp cossie will feel more like 400hp, against an evo of equal power due to the lack of technical intervention. plus the 909 cossie has some trick bits. if it were me, id go escos but only cos im a ford fan and the idea of owning a cosworth is always going to be a bit exclusive compared to the common as muck evo. the evo is by far and away better though.

Its got all the right parts and the car was built by ford.. If i went to buy and it was a dog then id walk away,

you are on a ford site. would expect a ford choice to win handsdown but it hasn't so you probably know the most practical car. put same thread on evo site and i wouldn't mind betting not one answer will say go for the escos.if you have plenty of spare cash follow your heart, if not follow your head.

But IMO half of Cossie ownership isnt about the performance!! its about the nostalgia of owning something that we lusted after when we were young!!
The Evo, as has already been mentioned, has 15 years development on a Cossie so will of course be a better all rounder BUT will you get the same buzz everytime you open the garage door and see it???? Hell no.
When i got over the emotional loss of my 3 door lol I was quite happy not to see the oil slick on the garage floor and watching it rust away!! also with the Evo i can take it out and give it a hammering (not that i ever do really) safe in the knowledge that nothings going to break whereas the Cossie just seemed so fragile!!

not sure what focus you are talking about but a mate has a mountune 400 spec mk2 focus rs and reckons his stage 3 saph is the faster of the two
