I think the thing with AVA is timescales.... Everyone who has, or has had an issue with AVA it always comes from the timescale. Alot of folk have said AVA are shit, or AVA ruined my car etc, but they were all sinigng their praises while the work was getting done. The last few threads that have been on slating them have all been because the job took so long that interest was lost. If you ever get a chance to see any of AVA work up close you'll see it's actually of a very high standard! Some of the fabrication is immense! However, the time taken to finish some of these projects, combined with the customer service, are truly horrendous

But, you can't say the cars don't get results, and that the workmanship is shoddy. The reality is quite the opposite.

I recall you were right there with the 'AVA are great crowd'? Your car went well, had some nice touches looked great. What did they do to piss you off anyways?

The car had some nice touches but everything was £500 with no receipt, money in the pocket for Alan Clark

I grew up and realised they were taking the piss with mods and prices.

indeed it does but only if you can calculate the torque applied to the roll then do a run down figure of your final part of the roll which required momentum only and not man power to give us a confirmed roll per hour figure

when i had my mk1 escort i was at a show and thought i would get the fueling checked on the carbs i wasn't bothered about the power and told them that ,can't remember the name of them london rolling road or something now i know alarm bell should have been ringing when i saw them banging the o2 sensor on the floor to get it working but thought i was in safe hands
they strapped the car on and as i was talking to one of the blokes i noticed another bloke under the bonnet with a screwdriver when i went to look and ask what he was doing he said adjusting the mixture where i propley said thats the balance screw not the mixture
his reply was amazingly they must be a different set of DCOE webers
after putting all the carbs out of balance and messing with the mixtue screws the car would not run so they pushed it off and said they would come back to it later as they had power runs waiting
thanks a fucking lot had to get the car recovered home
rant over

Yes it was a few years ago but it was still a bad experience at a rolling road.

If all 4 tyres were delaminating why did only 1 pop and why was he more than willing to run the car a week later with the same 3 tyres on it.
Because the story you are telling is quite different from reality....your mental issues are probably not helping here though. Plus, quite simply I don't like you AVA aside, ever since you threatened to steal AndyR's RS turbo....

Unsurprisingly still no phonecall from you to clear matters up with Alan???? for someone that appears to have huge issues with AVA/Alan (after 10 years) you don't appear to me doing much else other than bad mouthing him and his company behind his back, speaks volumes to me...like I said, your too much of a shitebag to do either because you know as well as I do, you're talking out your arse.

What's the matter, times hard for you, money tight...realised you wasted a load of cash on an old escort and now your pissed off about it and feel hard done by? Grown up??? hahahha..

hope to see you soon

on topic lol!
as long as your setup isn't as shitty as the DD one at ford fair you'll do well.
they used two fans to keep things cool, both on 13amp plugs off an extension lead, so 3kw worth of blowing fans set two feet away on boxes
how anyone would pay to be running is beyond me, bloody joke.

when will you be up and running stu?

i got a photo of that for this thread. will get it off my camera later.

they were a complete waste of time, but anyone daft enough to put their turbo car on that kind of setup deserves a blown engine

Same guy does a lot of car shows etc....and the scary thing is, if it's the same one I'm thinking of, he's now the UK DD dealer !!

Its going well... slowly but surely getting there.
I have spent a lot of time planning this setup and I want it to work properly right out of the box so its all taking time to be done properly, as I want it, from the off.

The big issue at the moment is soundproofing but its all coming together now with most of the final materials being delivered tomorrow/Wednesday.

The final setup is as the plan below.

The plan is missing an attenuated air inlet, but other than that is pretty much representative of the final layout of the ground floor.

Stu are you going to focus on the rolling road and Kenny on the road or flit between it all ?

What will be the break point between an on road mapping session and a rolling road mapping session,

Looks really good,

Mike

Sorry for the delay Mike, just back from a couple of weeks in Egypt.

For now it will just be the 6 of us as usual, but if all goes well I will take on another member of staff or two as ultimately that new building will also be used for training our installers in the training area we are building above the dyno.

What will be the break point between an on road mapping session and a rolling road mapping session,
The dyno will be used for a lot of development work on new cars to save us huge time as modern cars cant be mapped live so development of new stuff is hugely time consuming as you have to remap, test, monitor, come back, remap, test... repeat ad infum... so having it on a dyno will help a lot in that respect. figuring out where maps are in cars you cant emulate is a hell of a time consuming task.

Rolling road days, power runs, diagnostics and hiring out to mapping professionals are all part of the business plan, and it will of course also be used to get the bulk of mapping done on cars before the road mapping time. Cars will all still be finished on the road as even though my dyno install will be pretty much as good as it gets without OE budget, it will still never replicate road conditions perfectly.

Sadly the dyno has been delayed as it needed some redesign on the bed motor... this is the damn problem with buying the first of a new product, you get lumbered with teething delays so I am already having to move customers back in the diary!

On a more positive note, it has enabled me more time to do some tweaking to the building and get my HD video system installed while we are waiting. new plan is as follows:

That looks very impressive.

Roughly how much will it cost to have, a car that has one of your chips already fitted booked in for a check over and a tweak of the map?
Not a full live map just a clean bill of health and if the map needs adjusting?

Last time was interesting.

Flippin had to strap the front down extra as the L/H front wheel was lifting off the dyno then it kept blowing the exhaust collector off resulting in alarms etc etc.

What I would advise Stu with all that gear going in is to make sure you have a proper maintenance schedule, hold spare parts etc as you have a lot of fans etc that can go down and potentially lose you a few days worth of running

Prices aren't finalised yet as I need to see what sort of current this lot draws once its installed, but I am expecting around £60 for a 3 test power run and dyno mapping to be in the region of £100PH. Setups will remain teh same at £141 with an option to have a discounted power run done at teh same time.

Hard to say what a mapping tweak will cost until the final costings are finalised as it depends totally on the time required but it sounds like about £100 - £200 of a job if adjustments are required to the map... that price leaves scope for mechanical adjustments and repairs if required.

Seems they have had some issue in manufacturing and it hasn't yet even left Australia so at least another 8 weeks. (6week delivery - 2week training) That said, if your booking further in advance than this then feel free to call and book in.

Agreed mate. Am currently struggling to even find someone to manufacture and supply me the extraction fans. its draining keep going over the same details with so many different companies, let alone precure spares for them too.

At a guess the exhaust fumes are taken straight out the door instead if being circulated about the room. Or less chance of it happening?

Rob,
For no other reason than due to the configuration of the buildings 2nd floor, we have a height restriction at the front of the cell that would prohibit us from doing high backed commercial vehicles likes Sprinters etc, which we do a lot of.
