Default which package??

We are looking for a program/package to run in our office which we would be able to use to create flyers/adverts...which is best?
we also need to create graphics and manipulate pictures and save in various formats
we know of quark but this is serious money!!

any suggestions...
serif pp?
would photoshop do this??

There is an adobe program that is class!

we have tried publisher and have got on well with it.. but when we speak to publishers and magazines they all laugh at us and say its a waste of time!!!

something to do with formats??

you really need to have stuff in adobe acrobat format for printers and high resolution.

Alot of printers dont mind jpeg, or bmp.

i think its all down to the printers and mags you approach.

Its very good but not the only option. It is also very expensive.

I know what you mean!!

What I do is then convert my publisher doc with an Adobe pdf converter.... and send it to the publishers...

Adobe Photoshop definitely for creating the images

Quark Publisher [although it CAN be expensive] is great for creating magazines, handouts etc

i'd be using Adobe pproducts... photoshop for the images. and whatever the DTP package is...

ps CS is just a version number (bit like how you say XP) there are loadsa adobe packages that have the CS name in them

ps adobe is FUCKING EXPENSIVE... but thats because it's the bollox

Fair comments really re: MS Publisher lol (at least from a professional print point of view) - but ask them what formats they can accept - if they say just Quark, then it's your turn to start laughing (and find someone who can actually do their job).....

Ideally, you need to know what file types they can handle, and what dpi setting and possibly what colour format.

oops you are getting technical now!!!
a lot of the mags are asking for pdf's,.....
I know what you mean about quark....fantastic program but a HUGE amount of money....

does photoshop have a facility for text and page layouts??
