Default Your opinions please. Just had some work done @ Garage.

Firstly I am not gonna name or shame. I love to mess about with my own RS but when it comes to the GF car I will always have to work done @ a garage then if I mess up I dont need to worry about my work. Well we just had the service done on her Saxo including Cam belt & Cam cover gasket.
Well just been to pick it up, I dropped her off and she stops me on the way home Engine management lamp on, oil spewing every where and a nice metalic knocking noise from the engine.
FURIOUS Is an understatement.
Garage did not seem biothered at all and are not really interested in resolving the matter.

When i had a problem with putting my RST into ford for a service and a cambelt change, it didnt come back right. Mine was only a little problem (the hand brake light wouldnt come on, on the dash) after arguing with the manager that it is suppose to go and show him on another car that its suppose to come, I then blocked the enterance/exit and i wouldnt let anyone come into the shop or leave until they had sorted it.
within half hour the problem was sorted and i was on my way.

try a similar tactic or just make the threat of going to your local paper that normal works as well

Good luck

You need to find out exactly where the oil is coming from.... that way once you can sustain that you can see if the garage has done anything to that particular area then you have every right to complain to them.
You must remember that there is always a chance that it has nowt to do with them and a coinicidence that something has broken which has nothing to do with any work they have done.

Imo if they have done a rocker cover gasket that'll be the 1st place i'd be looking and if thats to blame go in calmly and explain the situation and then if they don't listen go off on 1..... Because going in guns ablazing will just get peoples backs up and won't help at all, people will listen to someome talking calmly.

Then once its all sorted slag em off to everyone who'll listen I remember once local to me a Home Tune guy did a crap job and someone posted posters all over town advertising his shoddy work.....lol

The cam cover where the gasket has been replaced has not been secured down at all so is seaping out from here.
In regards to the noise I dont know. Cam timing out or belt slipped? I managed ot speak to some one just know which was a suprise considering the time and they have said they will pick it up in morning and look @ it. So a little happier than earlier.

Always use a main dealer IMO if you are to have anywork done thats not DIY...I actually had my transit cambelt changed at the main dealer as i got a 60000 mile warranty against failure.

If an independant garage uses genuine parts they are still covered by the same warrenty....... So if you are miles away from garage that did the work and item fails you have the right to have it repaired by main dealer for free..... How it works with Ford parts anyway

Rocker covers on saxos are a nightmear. they always leak if not fitted correctly.

the spacers fall out then the rocker cover gets overtightend and warps and leaks.

Just the noise then.
Guess the light and rev limit are just a ECU Safe mode.

Thins is that much oil wouldnt come from rocker box cover....My guess is the lad who did the service, left the rubber seal from the oil filter on the car and just screwed up the new un and when the car gets going down the road then pop the oil filter seal gives wway and pisses its contents all over the road and night night engine...............Just my guess

hope it gets sorted what ever m8

Could the spacers have fallen inside the rocker cover and be rattling around with the cam and tappets ?

You can use them if you want!!

Aslong as you use a decent independant garage you will get WAY better service IMO. Yeah there are some cowboys about but most are much more concientious of their work and reputation than main dealers - whos role seems to be in fleecing company car drivers who dont care what the bill comes to!

If you are worried about parts - supply your own.

Some aftermarket timing belt kits come with a service life warranty. Besides, cambelt warranty claims are ALWAYS rejected! There is always another cause - water pump failure, oil/water contamination etc. etc.
