Ive had my mk1 focus rs for about 18months now. Got used to std power in no time but held back modding for one reason or another.
However, now the turbo has started making abit noise and think it needs a rebuild.
Question is do i go std or hybrid?
Ive gathered some parts and want the best out of them power wise.
I have;
airtec front mount intercooler
tubular manifold
large k&n filter
decat
blueflame system

So do i get my std turbo rebuilt or go for a larger ie 'johnfrs' hybrid?
Fast road car, built to be used.
Will be going for a live map i think.

Any thoughts ideas welcome

depends how much power you want
std turbo running flat out won't last long
get an uprated one
there are some special turbo's now that fit the stock exhaust manifold

I have a JohnFRS turbo, well worth the money. With the spec you have already, a hybrid is the next logical step. You'll see 300-320 ish. Next step after that is injectors as they'll be near the limit. Get onto the RSOC & FRSOC, loads of FRS Mk1 owners on them.

Around 300/320 id think
Yeah, wouldnt want to max out a std turbo
Stil pretty new to frs tuning, having cossies before (and still have 1)
Just want the kinda 'pull' that a well set up stg3 cossie gives to liven things up abit

There are a few options now, the johnfrs turbo is not the only hybrid available
However, place I know can live map the ecu now ( not actually sure how many places do this for standard frs ecu?)
They have been getting good results, can get up to around 400 bhp on them hybrids providing some other mods are done, which it sounds like you got covered.

At around 330 the frs are a super quick road car..my Old one drove better at 330 and I was quicker down the lanes than at 400.
