-15 degrees and engine workings....
Just came back from short (40km's ) ride in my Cossie on this freezy wether and found out special peculiarity. My Cossie always did spit flames from exhaust from time to time but today in this cold wether each time I go faster and change gear at 4k+ rpm and more then 1bar it just does big BANG and there is small flash in the night behind me. Is this some kind of engine menagment peculiarity in this wether? or is it something to do with exhaus being very cold? Or what?
By the way - even on very clean tarmac there isn't much grip when -15 even on winter tire ;-/

im guessing but colder air is more dense. The denser the air the more can be sucked in and burnt, the ecu compensates for the denser air and injects more fuel? and boom you have a bigger bang with a possible flame on lift off.
all of that is guess work
all of that is guess work

ITs showing -3ºc in kent tonight, but -15ºc thats mental. Doesnt Fuel atomise at those sorts of temperatures? If so what sort of engine running problems would you expect to see ?

You've got nice rally in Belgium now - Rallye Ardennes -> polish crew won it - Leszek Kuzaj/Maciej Szczepaniak in N-group Scoobie. All the WRC's were beaten - probably they don't drive on snow often.

You can have some problems with firing it but down to -25 or -30 I wouldn't expect any bigger problems. Never had any witho normal cars. On my Cossie I only see that cooling system is a little bit too good and I need to have heater on full all the time and 2 gear of blowe to have nice warm interior so I can stay only in my Sparco glowes and some POlar Jacket.. anyway it may be leaky thermostat...

I really like the idea of reintroducing Porkers into rally world. On tarmac the may be very dangerous to WRC's and S1600...

It's Krzysztof Hołowczyc - one of the top driver from few years ago. He took part in RAC raly few tie, was vice European Champion and European Champion and this year drove in Paris-Dakar. This is his practise in snow from 3 or 4 days ago.

if the stat is fooked, could it be you are getting back into the temps of a cold engine and its richening it up for cold start...which would cause you to overfuel and fill the night sky with flames ??????????
just a guess
Pugo
ps -15 is fookin cold.....sod getting a puncture

There is no problem with thermostat. Engine temp is rock solid at half of the scale while driving. Only while cruising it blow much colder air then while fact driving - the heat from the turbo can be really felt.

Dunno, probably about -40 or something in the mountains. Depends on how long term are we talking about. In XIV century there was such a winter that people could go to Sweden by sledge through Baltic Sea
