Default Steering Issue

Morning all.

Every now and again I can feel some resistance when steering, when I’m travelling in a straight line and then start to turn left or right it feels like there’s something small in the ways and then 'clucks' as it goes passed it, I’m not that technically minded so sorry if that direction doesn’t help any of you. What do you think is wrong with it?

I look on the net and have come up with a new steering rack basically

mines a bit like this but no where near as bad, though I'm guessing it will be eventually

I thought it might a bush of sorts that might have gone, but I hope I don't have to shell out for a whole new rack

Sounds to me like the rack as I had the same on my 2000 focus.
Its not a bad job to be honest and not tooo expensive depending on where you go. Personally I did it myself with a rack from the breakers so only cost me Ł65 }+ some fluid.

If your fluid looks shitty then you could get it replaced and see if that helps. It extended the life of my rack by 2 years!!

TBH, in the vid it looks and sounds like a broken spring or seized up top mount, not like a rack issue.
