Bit of a shame that insurance is a factor to consider. As jay mentioned 996 Turbo, shall be my next car after the Evo.

I had a Escort cosworth and hated it and would never own another, if I had to have a cossie would be a 3dr.

I don't think you'll end up with anything rob no offence but you were dead set on buying a £3-4000 Corsa b turbo last year and starting wobbling over very minor bits of paint or something from memory then there was another car in the for sale section on here you wanted but wouldn't drive 150 miles to get!!!
I'm not sure your ever going to find what your after.
I'm not doubting your budget either but my god that's a lot of cash to spunk on a weekend toy and then quibble over £500 insurance, doesn't make sense to me as surely once it's heavily modified classic car insurance is going to be pretty steep?
As a car for fun go for something like a mk6 fiesta with a Cossie lump and rwd,I've seen a few on ph from time to time for about £12k,modern car looks, old school quality power plant.
The Vauxhalls generally tend to be a lot cheaper modified and can still fall into reasonable insurance brackets as their getting on a bit now too, same with v dub.
I'd suggest BMW but I know you've had a few of them but something like an e30 m3 with a m3 e36/46 evo motor would be well cool.
Just think a bit out of the box,to me 500's have peaked or are very near so if it's money you don't want to lose don't bother,if you prang it it's worth jack shit as well so go for something fun but a bit more "disposable" as my opinion is you'll be looking elsewhere as soon as the first few track days are done as that's your personality (bit like mine).

Aston lol.

I think I've grown out of the chopping and changing to be honest. I just wanna get something I'm happy with and can spend some time and money modifying.

Mk6 fiesta cossie sounds good though. To be honest I really did want the corsa but I just didn't know much about them and I'm a bit of a ford man lol.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3472655.htm

Like you say weekend only toy is what your looking at, well tbh if your spending 28 large id be tempted to go in low(seems your way anyway buy the sounds of it )....

Motor like that is gonna be a BIG boys toy so big boy deals will need to be done to sell it...see where im heading with this.....
Nail it around the 20ish k mark,,spend the change on a nice re-paint(just my taste) and the rest on insurance and enjoying it.....

Either way Happy Hunting

I had a Renault 5 turbo 2 that was the absolute nuts. It was a nutty little thing. You might be able to pick one up for that money plus the insurance was pretty cheap but they are absolutely unbelievably rare now especially for a RHD one. If I had that kind of money I would go and buy one of them again. Great fun.

1) Buy a 3 grand 2WD saph
2) Chip it
3) Thrash it
4) Break it
5) Sell it
6) Be happy that once and for all you realise it's a waste of money and you've not lost much
7) Go on pistonheads buy something else
8) The end

OR

None of the above get out while you still can and dont buy an RS.

Went and viewed the escos and don't really know what to say about it to be honest.

Rear bumper way out of alignment and boot don't shut well, had a lot of paintwork and taps constantly.

But still a nice car, got a lot of the right bits but not had much love for a while, he will let it go for less than advertised but so he should, bits of trim hanging off. And under bonnet a bit of a mess.

Dont know wether to take a punt as it is local, but really tapping like a bitch and the paintwork on the passenger side is not the best quality at all!

Nice guys though so maybe I'll do it, just need to get a price on tappets being replaced, if it's just that I wonder, not a bean of smoke though which is all good.

Thanks for the offer mate but I don't think I would feel right doing it to a standard one. Especially as it will be more expensive due to being standard.
