I'd go for a very clean and sorted 3dr with something like 400-450hp (something like my 500) as its fast enough, gets the looks and is ubber reliable or personally I'd take a look at something like a 68 Camaro.

I wouldn't be spending the dosh on a modern car.

Edited to just say that I'd not do any of the above and would be looking at buying a well known caged Escos, haha!

I've had a few Lotus Exige MKI & MKII's............the best thing I can say about them is, "One day I will have another" as they're that much fun.

I'm also seriously thinking of selling my MKII Escort and buying a 197 Clio.

They don't stand out too much, are reliable, go well on a Track Day and won't break the bank.

Best of Luck with whatever you do..........

And the THING that changed with us guys is.............you wanted everyhing for nothing !!!Sory but you did want a HONEST thread !
Dave,

We didn't know each other for very long (your choice) so I don't get that at all really.

All I wanted and ever wanted was value for money and I say once again I do not remember offering you 7k for your car but if I did I apolagise because it is worth a lot more than that!

Joe got every penny he asked for on time and with no delay, and I made no moeny from my escort at all, which you guys seem to find hard to believe for some reason.

I have also never said a single bad work about any of you guys so where all this animosity comes from just shocks me.

I don't want or need to send you screenshot its just you act as if you don't believe me which I don't get either. I had no real choice but to sell as said yet you still think I did it on purpose.

I just don't know what to say to be honest, I didn't think I was a bad guy to be fair but obviosly I am!

The posts made by the OP just make him sound confused.

You say the Escos you had before did nothing for you, yet your considering another one?

You've got nearly 30k to spunk on a fun car for the weekend, yet you're being a tight cunt when it comes to insurance?

Its got nothing to do with being tight its that I don't want another monthly premium or have to fork out 2k every year.

I liked certain bits about the escos and as I said I love the looks but just was nowhere near fast enough

Thanks Martin

Exactly my thinking with the modern car bit, just lose too much money, maybe a nice 3 door will come up at good money. If it does I'm sure its what ill go for... I think outdated 4wd may have been the problem with the escos.

Ive not said i dont beleve you atall , good luck to you . Theres 100's of nice 3 doors out there but they are 26 years old , need time and need t be looked after . if you are worried about spending money then a cossie is not for you . if your the other way then get one, spend money on it and make it your own like i did. yes i only paid 7k for mine 8 years ago but in that time ive had around 16k put into it to make it a nice car .
http://pistonheads.com/sales/3731063.htm top money but low miles and a nice car .that i dout very much wilL go down in price . SORTED!!!

That does look very nice dave but seems silly to mutilate a standard one as clean and as original as that one. I agree its probably an investment though but know I would wanna go for more power just about straight away.

You wont need to get under it to clean it every time you have a drive unless theres salt on the roads mate, then it would just need a good blast with a pressure washer as all the undersides been treated and powder coated. as you said also, it only a weekend car so you wont be putting mega high mileage on it.

its a lovely car at a decent price aswell.

Why not go and drive a couple and make your decision...?? Odd though you have £25k+ to spend on a car yet you wont spend more than £500 to insure it???

I pay £1200 on my £12k M3??? LOL....

Your obviously youngish so a 3 door wont be much cheaper than a decent Porsche /BMW / Caterham etc???

A bike would be a good choice, cheap and cheerful, do you test, buy a bike and a set of leathers then insure it for under 15k or 10 if you want a bike with a few more miles and is a bit older, always good fun

Wow, I'm 19, looking at paying 2k+ insurance for a 1k car, and don't have anywhere near that in the bank. You have 28k and quibble over 500 insurance? How's about spending 20k on the car and keeping the rest for insurance?

Black or moonstone 3 door. Or infact a few older fords, 16i, frst, rst, xr2 and have plenty of cars

For that money you could have your pick of 996 turbos buy one of the cheaper ones and bank some cash, i think £ for £ they have to be one of the best performance cars going.

I would also be tempted by Rentons Elise/Exige if it was forsale before i got my R8 i would of bought it . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lotus-S1-E...item5d32c04dd2

for me it would be a cosworth of some description, much prefer saff's and escorts to 3 doors, there are plenty of motors out there, for me it would be one that is rust/rot free, engine could be built to personal spec, as Martoon says, 400-450bhp is plenty quick enough through the rear wheels, maybe 500-550bhp through all four? with the kinda cash you have available you should be able to find a tidy rear drive saff for sub 10k and then go balls out and spend 10k of the build and you still have 8k in the bank.......

simples.......

I think you should get an 4x4 ebony cossie then at least your screen name would make sense then make that 500bhp.
