Default could i use the old style sump gasket

Could i use the 4 piece cork and i presume rubber sump gasket that was for pre 86 cvhs on my 89 xr3i cos the rubber gaskets are shite

What brand of rubber gasket were you using??

Unbranded but the thing is fitting the bloody thing always pushes it away from itself on flywheel end btw they're a ass to fit. All i wanted to know is the older type gasket work ? as they stay in position better

The older type gaskets are even worse! Are you doing it with the engine out of the car? Is the sump genuine Ford? I found some pattern ones don't always seal that well

as above, try using a Victor Reinz gasket and a little Vaseline
