Think so mate, aren't they both type 9 boxes?
Pretty sure all ford boxes bolt up to all ford engines.

i *think* you can put a normal petrol non V6 type 9 onto the TD bellhousing and will bolt up perfect and obviousley retain your TD specific starter etc!

from memory,
bellhousing is different shape and doesnt bolt on
input shaft on gearbox of 2.3 is longer than 1.8TD one
starter motor is in different place on 2.3 than a 1.8TD one

2.3d bellhousing (gearbox end is from another make, not ford g/box)

Yeah the 2.3 is a Pug XD2, there was a turbo charged version called the XD2s. Terrible engine infact.

You're better off sticking a 1.8 back in it, the 2.3 was awful and goes through fuel likes it's going out of fashion. The 1.8 is faster too

i wouldnt do it with a 2.3 box as the ratios are horrid

unless you get the complete gearbox, machine the input shaft, play with clutch drive plate combinations, fit the 2.3 starter and wiring for the relocated starter motor, and clutch cable assembleys etc.

i would check the propshaft splines before you get the 2.3 aswell

it just isnt worth it in me eyes

if it just boils down to not wanting to spend Ł150 delivered
on the correct box then say so (i messaged a few people on ebay and 2 were this price)
