Default Y5A/B in a Sierra

Hi!
What should i consider when putting a Y5A/B engine in a Sierra?
will it fit the sierra gerbox, will it bolt in the same place as the 2.0 DOHC engine?
Are there anything else that i should watch for ?

Does the Scorpio have automatic tranmission?

Might make it slightly more involved?

Whatever you do if you use the Scorpio ECU and have the PATS system don't forget to have the ignition key in the Sierra dash so the PATS system senses the key.

I saw one conversion like this but the guy had to trim away some of the webbing/casting from the sump to clear the Sierra steering rack/cross member.

You could remove the Scorpio sump and remove the balancing shafts and then use a Sierra sump?

I have found manuals and auto scorpios with this engine. Dose it make any difference?

Have had the 2.0 DOHC (8v) for two years now and would like to add some power.
Dont realy like the V6 so i found that the Y5A is nearly the same engine.

Havent found a much info about puting the engine in the sierra, but have seen that its been done, so im looking for help.

By bolt on i mean - will it fit the mt75 gearbox and will it fit the 2.0 DOHC mounting brackets ?

The 2.3 had slightly differernt ratios in the gearbox I think?

But will bolt up to the Sierra MT75.

Autos can cause problems when the auto box isn't there, apparently.

The block is basically the same so *might* be able to use the engine mounting brackets?

First thing I'd ask is even though it's possible is it worth the hassle of going from a 2.0L to a 2.3L for not much improvement in performance?

Probably not without doing a shed load of other work. The 2.3 is only 150bhp, 25 up from your 2.0 at the min because it's a low compression engine. The head on the 2.3 is shite, not worth a bolt, the 2.0 16v one is better, but I believe you may have to do some grinding to the combustion chamber, otherwise the CR is off the scale. The balance shafts means it wont fit with the Sierra cross member. Most people who do the conversion remove the shafts, block up the oil feed, weld in a piece to the block and fit a Sierra sump. Then you have to think about an exhaust manifold, as there's no off the shelf item that'll fit. So, it's possible, but it's not plug and play. The easiest option would be to take the head off your 2.0, fit the 16v head from a Scorpio, get a non PATS RS2000 ecu and injectors and you got the same power as the 2.3 but without half the ball ache.
