Audi S4 2.7
Just been out for a play in a claimed 475bhp Bahnstorm prepared S4 wearing a pair of Seat K1 turbo's etc and shit me it was proper quick - i was shocked how hard it pulled and how the stock transmission with an RS4 clutch handles the pain. The brakes were pretty good too off a Porsche cayenne 6 pots
Anyway i am looking for another every day car and one of these would be interesting, not at the same power levels but near stock -
Does anyone know much about them and what they are like to deal with mechanically etc.
Cheers

When it comes time to chop my 1.8T in I shall be getting one of these.
Cracking cars, 265bhp out the box, a fairly agricultural but robust transmission. Only downsides is a lot of stuff like turbos is pretty much an engine out job and they can be expensive to upgrade or repair. They suffer with understeer as teh heavy lump is hanging off out at the front of the car and the suspension arms can be a bugger, all pattern arms are cheaper but none are fit for the job. OEM Lemforder items or Meyle arms but a full set of front arms will blow £400 in parts!
For me a late B5 platform S4 in Noggaro Blue is just about as good as it gets.

What shocked me is how over engineered they are to take the sorts of power and torque through the transmission - a Cossie owners dream

although i do agree they are great cars a friend had one with approx 320bhp....went really well and so comfy and quiet

How can you be insuring that for £700 a year? Insurance companies are not stupid and see that as a boring runabout A4 even if you live out in the sticks that's still a bargain!!

Great cars, Martyn off here had one that made nigh on 500hp, he has now upgraded to the rs4 though.
They can be expensive to look after but then that could be said for most audis, atleast they don't fall to pieces at the first sniff of big hp

My modified 1.8T is only £350 a year to insure and when I last enquired about an S4 it only added £80 to the premium and I'd only just renewed my policy. £430 for me so £700 I can believe

Ive got an A6 with the same engine, plus its a manual with RS6 interior form the factory, tbh the only car id change it for at the mo is an e46 M3 (well out of budget) or an S4 2.7t with Ko4's
Old Wheels
Current Wheels
Interior
May be agricultural, but drove straight past most big 4x4's last year in the snow
