Default Engine Head Removal

Hi all.

If I need to replace the headgasket on my car, Mk4 fiesta 1.25, Obviously I'd need to remove the head, but how do you lock the cams into place?
I'm assuming you'd need to remove the cam belt? Because the cams are attached to the head?
Would the locking plate used for when changing the timing belt be ok, or would you need something else?

Cheers, Jason

(sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just trying to learn more about my car)

yes you are correct its the 5mm ruler looking plate and a pin in the side of the block to time the bottom end.
