Hi guys bought this orion 1.3 gl last summer as a cheap run around has already been lowered on 16inch mondeo wheels and has full ashley exhaust system thinking about an engine transplant for a bit of summer fun just looking for some suggestions for engines cheers
hi mate to swap for the efi u have to change the petrol tank fuel lines and the engine loom look in the forsale section mate ive got a complete set up in there everythink u need
Silvertop zetec is probably the most straightforward non cvh swap. As stated you will need fuel injection fuel lines, tank and pump (you can use EFI or MFI) in addition you will need a modified engine mount from a CVH lump as one of the lugs doesn't line up on the back. A 1.6/1.8 lump is the easiest as it essentially drops straight in. To fit a 2.0 you will need a replacement sump, oil pickup, waterpump, flywheel and clutch to fit.
As Twins has suggested the RS1800 engine is the best of both for 130bhp. Worth speaking to both slammedorion (who runs a Zetec Turbo and built 'Pov' and orion zetec carl (do a search for zetec conversion) who are both Orion Zetec junkies and have really helped me with mine...
Just a little update on my side project its just had 1600 cvh engine transplant along with full rs trubo brake conversion and been freshly MOTed in time to catch the last of the shows
Rs1600i front spoiler needed, will look wicked with one fitted
I had a cvh built in my old mk3 escort by wpe and was making 160+bhp on twin 40s and a 8000rpm limit but Wayne was only revving it too 6800rpm lol
If you get bored give him a ring or send me a pm and I could give you the spec, if it had a better exhaust and twin 45s it would have been around 175bhp
