Well it was probably the most inspiring roadcar escort cosworth ever in the uk, its attention to detail was fantastic, it was visually spot on, and it had a unique combination of unusual features like the tall block and the OSG box. Likewise it was a great mix of trackday weapon but still genuinely usable on the road.
It also DID do the 200mph Martin always claimed it was going to do, which is a nice achievement, and probably one that wont be bettered in an escort for quite some time.
I think your head is just so far buried in motorsport you dont spot anything else mate.

Back on the 1uzfe subject for a bit:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...22662327174932
They really are that smooth even with a load of miles on them, I did the coin test on my one and it sat there quite happily at 6Krpm while a pound coin stood on its side on the engine and didnt vibrate off.
Didnt video when I did it, but here a youtube video of someone else doing it:

WTF??^^ how much power can you get from those lexus engines? I mean, Martins had 700bhp out of the YB, no point in downsizing is there

Twin turbo ls gets my vote. The lexus is going to get expensive after 700hp or less and it's ideally going to need to be quite a bit more powerful than that if to better the yb.
1000hp is easily achievable for loads less than I imagine the yb would sell for.

can you get the bellhouing to mate them up johnny ,or do you have to get them engineered yourself?
as the bulkhead was moved back ten inches on my 3dr i really do fancy filling the engine bay with a v8 too.
how about some of the v8 ford engines ?

Ford V8's are expensive to tune, I know some drag racers and the Chevy engines is far better value for money.

I guess there is that, Roll Centre had a crate motor for sale a while back

I had considered that exact engine for mine, YB's are expensive and that engine wouldn't need much to be more powerful than mine but wouldn't be stressed at all. I still need to have a measure up tbh as long term wise its a no brainer if it fits.

Thats what I thought, no idea if thats complete or not but either way its a cheap 400hp !
Roll Centre build the Moslers so they may always have something like that "kicking" around.

Skyline standard box (as opposed to OSG like last time) would make sense, they are strong and cheap and also easy to live with, there is a RWD only variant too of course, if you use a GTST one.
Supra box is a common converison, but thats cause its common to put the lexus V8 into a supra. Thor racing sell a conversion to do this, but im sure Martin could do the same for a lot less money.

Might have just been me, but seeing those connected to Rod's Saph banging the drum for Martin to sling in a blown V8 when they read that he couldn't confirm his Escort wasn't staying YB powered made me laugh... that would surely take the pressure off a YB-powered challenge to that glorious 4th place which you are aiming for eh lads??
I can see the chat already, "Well done Martin, but my Saph is still fastest YB engined Cossie" ...I've never been fortunate enough to experience it personally, but I gather it's only natural to aim for the dizzy heights of 4th place after sinking 6 figures into a project.
Cheers,
Grant

As above; I'm not into all this in any way, shape or form, but I thought the Calder Supra and AndyF's old Impreza had gone faster... both of which I'm sure were running a little under 6 litre capacity at the time.
Cheers,
Grant

I'm not into all this top speed malarky, so maybe it is a huge thing to clinch 4th place mate.. however in other areas of reality, it's rare to aim for and strive for mediocrity.

When talking of Andy's Impreza. That was a one off attempt, and it was over a fixed distance ( 1.25m ).
I dont think he or any of the other Subaru runners have any interest whatsoever in trying for more, and none over an open distance.
I myself have absolutely no interest in speed over unlimited distance either. Max I'd be interested in is the standing mile. If I cant achieve the speed by then, Ive no interest in even trying.
