Sad day for my Escort

Stripping started!! It's not as bad as it sounds... I have sold the all the transmission (except rear diff) and have someone who may be into the engine so I've decided to keep the rest of the car and do something new with it :DD:

Bye bye YB!!

With 2 hoooge turbos???:top:

Chip 16-12-2011 09:45 AM

Lightly tuned LS lump with around 500bhp N/A would make for nice accessable power and ideally suited to a rwd trackday car I reckon :)

grcossie 16-12-2011 09:46 AM

Was hoping not ever read this Matin, but looking foward to see what you will do whit it now

XRT_si 16-12-2011 10:01 AM

Got to be an LS!

RSLUBBY 16-12-2011 10:29 AM

Glad you keeping the car.
Im having mine painted in repsol colours as yours has inspired me and wanted to look like yours iconic car and one of the best known.
I will await the build thread

Glenn_ 16-12-2011 10:38 AM

LS1 motor sounds good to me.

massivewangers 16-12-2011 10:52 AM

A sad day that it's coming apart, but will be interesting to see what you do with it.

I've gotta say though, a V8 just seems wrong to me, doesn't suit the Cossie at all!

MikeR 16-12-2011 11:25 AM

New cossie engine and Time Attack sounds like a great way forward to me

Mike

Drift car martin. Compete in the British drift championships. It's getting really popular and would be good advertising for your business

I'd need to learn the art of drifting then!

_SpeedX_ 16-12-2011 12:01 PM

RB26 would be cool..

Moonstone Steve. 16-12-2011 12:02 PM

I don't think you've thought that through... A 4 pot YB is a tight squeeze lengthwise so where are the other two cylinders going to go??

COCHYN 16-12-2011 12:17 PM

Gotta be an LS lump, Martin keeps mentioning them and his fondness for them :)

Either way, good man for keeping the car, so much money lost there if it went, fair play :)

There's an RB25 powered one in Performance Ford, couple of issues back. They're six cylinder too aren't they?

Indeed they are but with a monster intercooler the bulkhead would need severe mods.

Would the bulkhead not need chopping up for an LS series?

Not unless you wanted to move it backwards for better weight distribution..

I guess it'll all depend on what the car will be used for then.
Which ever way it goes, I'm looking forward to seeing it in action! :top:

Mike C 16-12-2011 12:53 PM

you going to put a zetec in it and fwd it :shocked::shocked:

alternativly, stick the v8 in the back from an audi, complete with the box and have it mid engined :)

massivewangers 16-12-2011 01:37 PM

RWD in an EsCos is definitely not cool :(

5 pot turbo would be the way for me!

RstAaron. 16-12-2011 01:39 PM

Tuned 6.6 duramax would be interesting... Lol

Look forward to the build whatever you decide :)

lee2cossies 16-12-2011 01:50 PM

It's gotta stay with a yb! It won't be the reyland Cossie no more if it has a jap lump!

RSCossieGaz 16-12-2011 01:57 PM

End of an icon in a way :( glad the car is staying tho

Martin-Hadland 16-12-2011 02:04 PM

We weighed the car before the engine and box was removed and again afterwards, anyone like to guess those weights?? (Not you POrkie!!)

COCHYN 16-12-2011 02:08 PM

1100-ish kg with box and engine?

Mint FRST 16-12-2011 02:09 PM

Iconic car for me. :(

A YB in a different form for me also for the replacement. Just a bit of thinking outside the box again like last build ;)
