Honda k20 experts
I've decided I'm keeping my civic for a while.
So I want to know what tuning mods work?
And which ones are forum hype only?
For example do I need to go for k pro or just get the guy that does all the mapping at FST do it for me?

Sadly the above is the only way to go fast. Yes, you can get upto 50hp more out of the stock engine for around £2000-2500, but for £5000 you can get 200hp gain, with much better torque, spread of power and fuel economy.
250hp would keep you happy for about a week.

I've currently got a japspeed shorty manifold, standard cat(to keep it legal),piper 2.5" bore cat back system. And a modified/drilled airbox with a cone filter fitted inside.
Do RBC manifolds really make a differance?
Is the kpro the best option or would a custom map be better

For decent power increase you need to spend big.
For fast road spend your money on a good suspension set up and updated brakes.
For track use same as fast road but add 4 pots, decat, LSD, oil cooler and a baffled sump.

Nice spec so far. Without going into daft money a induction kit like a Gruppe M of J's Racing style, LSD, oil cooler, baffled sump would make it a really good all rounder. Without going forced induction your looking at cams or NOS but again crazy money for very little gain.
Mate has a 310bhp Cosmic Grey 1 with a Jackson Charger, K-Pro, IPS cams, Tokco suspension, DC and Progress braces, 4pot brakes with custom bells and discs, Quafie LSD, J's induction kit and exhaust manifold, custom 3inch manifold back exhaust.

Your problem mate is the k20 is highly tuned from the factory, so you will need to spend quite a bit to get anything
I would spend 3k and have a supercharger conversion
Or throttle bodies, cams, and decat, just keep your old cat for mot to swap over
Good luck what ever you decide
A mate of mine had a 350bhp turbo one and easily sat with my mate 430bhp mk2 frs

I wouldn't get any extra air flow than what I've already got with my two cold air feeds and my cone filter in the airbox. And im not into cutting my scuttle panel and bolting a scoop on it
I had mentioned LSD earlier in this thread as I thought getting the power down better will make it nicer/faster on the road. But someone said not too bother
But I don't want to spend silly money as I've already spent over 2k on the car since I bought it

Trust me it makes a whole lot of difference with the LSD. Not a fan of the Gruppe M either that's why I prefer the J's as its fed from the front grill, for cheap power NOS is your best bet.

I'd drop in a fruity MFactory final drive if you're not planning to boost the engine at any point... no point being geared for 160-170mph (at a guess?) unless you can get there without holding it on WOT for long periods. I'd gladly sacrifice a willy waving top speed to gain more useful improvements through the gears.
While the box was out, I'd also drop in an LSD and uprate the clutch/flywheel.
Cheers,
Grant

If you don't want to go turbo i'd save the money and put it towards a new car. Spending 500-£2000 on mods won't make a lot of difference at all.
