Default Scared of Insurance...?

Im in a really sticky situation about insurance but i dont really know where i stand or where to ask questions...

Ive just had loads of body work done on my 1.0 Fez (nothing major major but just a smarten up) but now im worried about insurance as its only insured as standard.

Im also about to have an engine conversion as mine is shagged, to a 1.6 XR2 (yes i know i should have just bought an XR but im doing this ass about tit way)!?

Im 22 and have been drinving for over three years but only as a named driver with no convictions so now i wanna start my own policy.

The cheapest ive found for my own cover, plus the engine conversion is £600 from Virgin - which i think is pretty good but this is without declaring mods.

Why do you need to declare them though, surely you lose if the car gets nicked either way dont you?

Also, what if i didnt insure the mods, how would i be caught and what would happen if i did???

I dont wanna break the law but my cheapest quote for being the best law obiding citizen i can be is £1400 and then a pay out of £250 if my car got nicked - not fair considering the amount of money, time and effort has really gone into it!!!

Are you lot all properly covered???

You MUST insure all modifications otherwise your insurance is invalid.

This could lead to a conviction for driving with no insurance.

Both my cars are completely covered for all modifications, and I mean everything!

I think there are some companies that don't charge for cosmetic modifications but you MUST let them know what you've had done.

Try some of the specialist insurance companies.

By the way, is it a MK 2 or MK 3 Fiesta?

Its a MK3 Fiesta.

Ive tried a lot of places and they just absolutely clobber on the insurance front - its ridiculous, especially when you're not even going to get any of the money you've paid back if anything were to happen!

Just the way insurance works I'm afraid.

I'm sure you could get it pretty cheap without the engine conversion, I think the Co-Op used to let you do cosmetic mods. for free.

Have you tried Liverpool Victoria?

Liek he said, you don't get the money back for the mods, but if you have an accident and you haven't declared them, your insurance is invalid, which would cause a LOT of hassle....

Also with regard to your insurance, have you tried posting on www.fiestaturbo.com The guys and girls on there will have more clue as to what you should be paying. Also a great site for modding advice etc.

I just got a quote from LandMark IGI for £1080, which works out £89 a month.

Think the thing making it worse is that im also starting a new policy...

Ill try fiestaturbo and i think ill give Liverpool Victoria a go!

Thanks!!!

its natsy stuff, but it would be cheaper to go and insure a genuine xr2/2i than a conversion
