Default Quick question

Why is the power steering fluid feed pipe pig tail shaped?

Is their any reason why it is that shape? What would happen if the pipe was changed to a different style/shape if I moved the power steering reservoir

That's good to know Steve.

WongRS. I'm wondering if it is for cooling.

Yeah, cooling is the only reason i have ever thought of, quite why you'd want to cool returned fuel im not sure though?!

I would have thought the extra pipe length in the pigtail is to allow for excessive engine movement i.e in a crash and still keep all flammable fluid systems intact where possible.

The loop on the steering rack is for cooling P-S fluid.

pretty much what he said except the crash bit, I work in the chemical industry and all the instrument lines on our compressors (the size of a bus!) have several loops in them (to act like a coil spring) to counter vibration movement, before they were looped they used to snap and 300 psi of highly flammable hydrocarbons pissing out is no fun lol
