both are 16v engines, although, there are some vtec engines like the 1.5 vtec-e (d15 iirc)motor that will run 8v till a certain RPM then switch to 16v mode, but thats an economy focused vtec, not for maximising performance
Its a 2002 model. Always thought the 'type v' badge meant it was a vtec. Maybe it is a16v.

it might look a bit like an 8v if your looking at it as it might be a SOHC as opposed to DOHC, but both versions still run 16 valves

Ok time and place? lol

My anniversary had a allard engineering hybrid turbo, egr delete, hard piping and remap, was over 200bhp with big torque. Wouldn't look anywhere near my Type R. It was a good car though.

Have you run at crail with the type r?
Imagine your anni, with more power, more torque and a lighter shell?

No I've not run it at Crail. I did think about putting it on last time I was down for fast ford but we left early as it was crap lol.

i hate the veedub crap, but a golf/corrado vr6 made all the right noises (and a superb sound at that), but at least they had a good bit of poke for what they where back in the day, and they do make great engines currently!! but wtf are honda playing at

its difficult to take anyone on a ford forum seriously when there username is lambo slayer. what a dick head. The point is, for a standard N/A engine, the v-tec system is pretty flawless

Ok so you are telling me a renault is more reliable than a honda? also have you driven a 182 cup? I have and they are cracking cars, however they are not as powerful as the 2 litre equivalent v-tec engine. In fact have you ever driven a dc2/dc3 integra? these are only 1.8 but will rev to 8400 rpm all day long

and arguably one of the best fwd handling cars

Even before there supercharged from a Hot hatchview compared to there competitors there are a good car in standard form.

Though it's not my favourite in Hot hatches, out of the MK5 Golf Gti edition 30, focus St and megane sport in that era of cars.

Not sure if it's me but I feel the DC5 and the S2000 was a let down. IMO

what a bell end you actually are, so much for an interesting topic discussing an interesting topic.
Then you being an immature prick with no knowledge of cars or engines turns up and acts like a 5 year old. its people like you that spoil forums like these where people come here looking for valid opinions or knowledge. Funny, i don't see you debating on the current European union issues.

fair enough mate, i worked for a long time at the BCA auctions and drove quite a few v-tecs of various types. I will always agree they they dont feel very high on torque, but for an n/a system, they are the best i have driven ( with the exception of ITB's etc)
