Default Dump valves

Has any one ever fitted or heard a dump valve on a tdci 1.8 focus? If so does it sound shit or does it not make a difference with it being a diesel? Cheers

it wont aid performance tbh due to the mechanics of diesels.

itll sound good if you like that kind of thing but i wouldnt fit one personally.

save some extra cash and fit a bigger intercooler instead

The best way to make a diesel sound difference and to hear the turbo is a straight through exhaust.

I did it on a old vectra, sounded like a tank, chattered like a bitch when changing gear

The point of a blow off valve on a petrol car is to dissipate the pressure left in the system when the throttle is closed after a run on boost. As a diesel doesn't have a throttle, the issue doesn't occur.
Like the man said, why?
Of course, that ignores the small boy latent in us all!

have i missed something? diesels don't have a throttle?
i better have a word with vw as they've fitted one to my bora.
although fitted to help emissions, it's still there
fuel flow controls power/revs in a diesel so throttle never really shuts down full and hence the problem with a dump valve installation.

That comment alone leads me to believe you know nothing about diesels,

Similar list of mods to the petrol turbo's really they dont need asny boxes in the system respond better without a cat (particle filter for the picky cunts) more boost and fuel and a bigger cooler / turbo if you so wish

they won't aid performance.
basicallythe throttle doesn't snap shut like on a petrol so the turbo still blows through the inlet and pressurises the cylinder. the injectors fire, but metered so that max power isn't achieved and as such drop the power off which then spools down the turbo.
in essence the flow of air from the turbo isn't impeded so doesn't flow back through turbo.
